Wrong!! Inevitably the fuel tank will be mid mounted as most cars are due to safety factors and protection of the fuel tank from rear end impact. ANY leaking fuel from anywhere on the car would imply a fire risk and should NOT be driven until rectified. It is unlikely that liquid fuel will ignite, however it is not impossible. Get your car checked out as soon as you can, failing that if you have not had it checked by the end of the weekend then drop us a mail and Steel will poop round on his way home on Monday and see what he can do.

Oh dear, BBQ'd driver anyone?

Any fuel leak is dangerous, and especially in this weather, vapourised fuel can literally be a ticking bomb!

This! Ignition is unlikely but its not worth risking. Plus I think you can get done for driving what the police would class as an unsafe vehicle.
