"The Gower is just within 60 miles I think. Beautiful beaches, but the journey to Cardiff is hard as Gettkng to the M4 is hard. The Vale of Glamorgan is nice. Lots of beautiful spots in the Brecon Beacons too. I like the area around Llandovery too - prob about 60 miles away (it's definitely 1 hour 15-30 mins). Nice quiet villages and rolling countryside. Don't rule out The Valleys either. People tend to have somewhat stereotyped views about the area, but there are some truly beautiful places there (and inexpensive housing). Maybe consider Cardiff itself too - there's some good areas to live and there's loads going on sport and culture-wise. One thing to consider will be how Welsh speaking the area is. Of my suggestions, I'd say only Llandovery is an area where Welsh is a strong part of the community and everyday life. I wouldn't let that put you off though - I can speak from first-hand experience of the area when I say that many people move there from outside Wales and love it (many actually learn Welsh and are passionate about it,including a lovely cockney lady I know)!" Totally agree and well done for a great response to the op's question Would like to add that Wales is so beautiful that if you look and you don't have to look very hard there are so many fantastic places that its impossible to pick any one alone Good luck with the move and who knows maybe see you soon !!!!

"Monmouth, Abergavenny Raglan or usk. All are within a 60 min commute of Cardiff, and with the added bonus of excellent links to the midlands. Plus of course the wonderful welsh swingers, who will welcome you with open arms, legs, lips etc etc " Fantastic looking forward to getting to know some lovely welsh swingers lol

"We came to Brecon from Ipswich and never want to leave. There are some amazing places in and around South Wales.. it depends what you want from life. Fairly hectic with a good night life then stick close to cardiff. For example Caerphilly. the further out we find it slows down. Abergavenny is a lovely town that was our second choice, and only turned down because we have friends in brecon. Do your research. . See if you can live without certain lifestyles.. (eg dont need 24 hr petrol or shopping) or you would be happy with a couple of pubs and wonderful views.. it took us a while to get used to change in speed of life but ultimately worth it." Thank u so much that really is helpful. We won't somewhere not too quite but not to hectic. Supermarket and few nice pubs will be great. Exactly where we move to will be dictated by where I find a job
