Hello all you lovely Welsh people! You have been unfortunate enough that I have been given a promotion, and I'm moving to Cardiff in about a month!

Firstly what areas are good to live in, my job is rithat beside Cardiff central, ideally would like it to be walkable.

Secondly, don't know a single soul in Cardiff, so guys I'll make a great wing man, with my Scottish accent lol and ladies dinner and a wee dance would be great

Thanks in advance for your help and responses!

West Wales and Cardiff

Canton - walkable to city centre, some decent housing, pretty lively (mostly in an alright way, though of the pubs are a bit ropey), some decent places to eat and an excellent arts centre.

Nicer than Riverside or G-town in my opinion (ducks for cover) and I lived in the former.

Roath is a good bet on the other side of the city too.

Pontcanna is properly the most desirae area close to the city centre, but it's very expensive for accommodation and some find it a bit too poncey (personally, I like it)!

Firstly, congrats on your promotion, we have a few socials in Wales, Bridgend as you have been told in April. We also have a Cardiff Charity Social 17th May and a June Social in Newport. Hope you enjoy Cardiff.

And from one Cardiff newbie to another, Bore da

Though I'm only a commuter

It looks as though I'll be organising a Cardiff mid-week social ... me and my big mouth

I'm in the Canton area, but near Sofia Gardens and loving my time there

If I get my kilt out too, it'll look like a rugby match is going on in the City
