The most overused and misused term on here.

I have seen 3 profiles today 2 women one couple where they have described themselves as athletic, and I can only say they must have reverse body dysmorphia, the women could have played keepy uppy with their breasts and the the guy looked like he hadn't seen his toes in a decade.

I'm no body nazi, but at least describe with some degree of accuracy your own bloody body!

People have different ideas of body types and descriptions as is their right. Im not going to try and defend the undefendable here, it really isn't worth our time. Can you give us a definitive body type including maximum and minimum heights, inside leg measurements, breast size and cup just so we can accurately describe ourselves as cuddly, athletic, average or amazing please so we don't get included as one of those who in-accurately describe ourselves?

Oh come on, you are trying to be diplomatic and chivalrous for the sake of it, and in the process you are splitting hairs, if someone is a size 22 lady or a 25 stone fellow, then why even try to describe yourself as "athletic" it's moronic and makes the rest of the profile seem disingenuous.

For claritys sake, I am not making a judgement on whether it is attractive or not to be big, I am making the point that it is not just deluded it is laughable to describe oneself as anything other than large in that situation.

For instance, a cursory glance at your profile would mean that I'd be surprised if you sold yourself as "ample" same rules applying

N on that note I have to get it in that I genuinely nearly beat phil the power taylor at darts once n have the pics to prove lol

n I am listed as athletic but not because of that lol

No, I am not being vain, vanity is the excessive belief in one's own appearance, I haven't mentioned my appearance once and have no intention of doing so.

I am merely saying that it is disengenuous to describe yourself as "athletic" when you are carrying, not just a bit, but an awful lot of extra weight that comprises fat.

I come back to my original message, I am not making any judgement on whether it is attractive, or unattractive, what I am saying is, objectively, it is disingenuous and laughable.

No their athletic in THEIR domain.

herein lies the difference, I am talking about "objective" description of athleticism, show a person a picture of a shot putter in the all over, they would objectively describe them as large, "subjectively" though they are athletes, that does not make them "athletic"

I think we go on pictures rather than categories but I do get what you are saying. I (female) exercise 5 times a week yet I would never put athletic as I am still curvy. As long as the pictures are accurate and not taken at a flattering angle in a darkened room with someone holding their belly in then I don't think people are trying to be deceptive

I personally think it's everyone's personal choice how they wish to discribe their body

I mean they have pics so you can see what they look like and decide weather or not to meet them simple

I put on my profile on a dating site few extra pound and got told off for that as I apparently should put average

I understand what he is getting at and it is a little annoying when u "claim" to be one way and ur not usually the pics are old ones and when ask for a current one it looks like a different person ,however that said I am not saying I am shallow and judge a person just on wether there athletic or not it's just I want to people to be honest from the start !! and enormously attractive you are! Irrespective of whether you are athletic/large/ample/slim/fabulous.

I'm glad y message has stimulated debate. Once more, for clarity I am not judging people for not being athletic, I am not a body nazi etc.

What I am saying, and clearly there are people who agree, is that IF you describe yourself as athletic, when your pics show that your body is for want of a better word...fat. Then how is anyone supposed to take with any credibility the written part of the profile.

Like I say I'm not talking about people who have curves describing themselves as athletic, that is being too precise, I'm solely talking about those that say they look like Daley Thompson, but their pics look like Clarissa dickson Wright

I agree Athletic is someone who has toned defined muscles and not just thin .

Nothing against thin people I wish I was myself .the descriptions on the site should have slim .as most "athletic" people would be in the slim category.
