So now that restaurants have to display their Food Hygiene Rating and you realise your favourite restaurant has a rating of 1 - would that stop you eating at that restaurant?

Nope. As long as the food tasted good and I hadn't been sick, I wouldn't care haha x

A lot is down to filling in paperwork tho, a kitchen could be spotless and if paperwork is not correct automatic 1

I have a catering business it's not down to the food and the premises. It's all to do with paperwork. It's a pain when you are busy and you got to stop and check things and keep a record of them.

I think all EHO who check should at least worked in catering then they would know how hard it is.

They bring out new rules to follow all the time. And it's costs money to get what they require.

So to be honest don't be afraid to eat at your favourite places that you always have.

They are given a period of time after the original visit to carry out any suggested changes, to secure a higher score.

Feel free to look up the criteria on the websites, and of course the ratings given to them, and not one bought off ebay or made themselves....

The rating were bought in after a couple of major outbreaks of ecoli which a few people died, so feel free to support the no points or those with 1 or 2, good luck...

the ratings are a waste of time

as long as you do the paper work your food could be shit , you will still have a high score

I'm afraid, that's not true ... You would go down to a score of 3 for bad paperwork ... Anywhere with a score of one has serious hygiene issues that could have consequences to your bowels; and dangerous to the old or young. And before you take this lightly, please note that I have both owned a restaurant and hold an environmental health officer certificate.

yes I def would stop eating there...... the food ratings do work, and although a lot of people think they may be a waste of time, they are well worth taking a note of them when eating out.I myself got a five star rating last year and its not just about paper work its about how food is handled and cooked etc as well !!!

totally disagree with this, the checks that you have to take note of are there for a reason, health reasons!!!! far better to have regular checks that someone sue you for ecoli or worse !!

Bridgend

I wouldn't go unless I'd checked out the ratings fully in the areas that are rated - if the hygiene was higher rated than the management skills and that's what had bought the score down then I'd eat there.

Just to add, they don't rate the food. Only that you follow best practise for storing, preparing and display etc. Not the quality or taste of the food, thats the customers choice.
