Been abusing this function a lot today, mainly cos we are getting a shit-stack of winks, friends invites and msgs from single guys.

Our "looked at me" page is full of them too, many of them from many miles away.

Now, before anyone gets all bent out of shape, this isnt a rant against single guys, we have met loads and count some of them as good friends.

The point of this post is, do you block those you dont want to know, or just ignore?

If you ignore, what if they try to chat to you in the chatroom, asking stupid questions that make it obvious that they havent read your profile, just perved the pics?

In response to your question, I think you have to, it's the only way they will get the message.

I think this raises a couple of issues, some which I am aware of as I am a male that swings alone.

Firstly, single men trawl the pages, firing out messages to anything with a pulse and all of this mass mailing has no consequence on them.

Their one arguement is that they never get a response so they do not know whether they are wanted or not. However, they fail to realise how many messages couples and females get on here.

This also touches on a previous forum post which suggested a function to leave comments for photo's etc. Some suggested it a good idea, some said that it would lead to bad comments. Both fair points, although I suppose in the current climate of equality you can't provide a function simply for the positive, it defeats the object.

There is also no way to provide feedback on people who use pics that are 10 years old etc, pictures that do not represent their current appearance. Verification is good, but again, one way.

Perhaps the answers lies in a 5 star rating system, or something similar to ebay. This could also be expanded so a check box is added for a range of subjects. For example, if someone is annoying and sends countless messages, rate them low and have a check box for "serial mailer" or similar.

Something like this will out the annoying single men that give the rest a bad name.

It wouldn't be so bad if they just sent a wink, but some send winks, friends invites, and a msg....... and then do it again some days later, probably cos they dont remember doing it the first time.

If you have the blanket single male block, single guys will still be able to contact you if:

They are on your friends list

You have messaged them.

You have replied to one of their messages.

Seems like a fair solution - you dont get bothered by the hoardes, but can keep in touch with the guys who you deem to be worthwhile.

Thanks for that, useful to know, but in practice I think its easier just to block those that show themselves to be a pain.

As an example tobes, a blanket ban would affect you, as we have never messaged you, but you are in the "polite" group of guys who we talk to in the chatroom.

Guess we will just have to exercise that "block" option for a while longer lol!!

We block tons of people, singles and couples, if people can't be bothered reading our profile before messaging us in some format then they probably won't be bothered meeting or if they meet they probably won't bother respecting our criteria.

We block single males from contacting us for about a week then take the block off just to give ourselves a little breather.

If we get a friends invite from someone who we don't know or have never chatted to, whether they are a couple or a single, then unless there's a message to go with it we just ignore it. If it's a wink then we only respond if we might be interested. The only time we block anyone is if he/she/they have been rude or abusive ... other than that we'll chat to anyone

What about an automatically generated option that arrives with each email. A simple tick box to indicate "Not interested, thank you". That can then automatically go back to the sender and put them out of their misery.

What you think? It's a start lol

As a single guy i probably on send out about 5 speculative mails a week, and even when i have taken the time to read all the profile double check things like can accommodate preferences ect and go into detail about myself, i still find most do not even bother with a reply.

now seeing your mail has been read then deleted is a pretty good indication but to see it sitting in someones inbox for weeks how do i read that? another mail and i am pushy so maybe a wink ?

it really would help if there was some kind of feedback from sent mail

I could be wrong, but I dont think that adding the "not looking for single males" thing on your profile to stop them from messaging you affects what happens in the chatroom at all - as far as I know the only way to block someone in the chatroom, is to hit the block button and individually block them.
