How much effort do you go to for meeting with someone on a 1:1 social?

Personally I treat it like I’m going to a meet, shower (basic, but not a given for experience!), smooth areas, smell nice, hair, face, jewellery, something clean and presentable, situation acceptable.

Do women take more care than men?

Interested in thoughts after a couple of weeks chatting then planning to meet, making effort then being ghosted!

Maybe rocking up unwashed in pjs is the way forward?

Most guys would accept a woman unwashed in PJs 🤣 I do believe it is about effort, nothing wrong with a little peacocking. However I wouldn't meet up with friends without effort either. For me the best social meet is a walk even if it's a short one, people are more themselves and open when they're walking, the things people try to hide are often their most beautiful quirks.

I don't think the effort you made has anything to do with your recent experience. I put in the same effort as you do.

I've never ghosted anyone but have been ghosted myself, thankfully not often. It shows a distinct lack of manners and zero class in my book.

It's especially annoying when I have invested my limited time.

As for the ghosted part, it only shows immaturity on their part. Everyone has a right to change their minds but at least be decent and communicate. Values just aren't there anymore.

I've always made the effort to be clean and presentable at all meets, social or play. I can't imagine anything worse than being unhygienic or scruffy when meeting someone.

I will probably be castigated for This but it is the truth

Based on my last experience... I think men take more care to prepare than women.

For my part, if I am lucky enough...and yes i do sincerely mean lucky enough... indeed honoured that a woman/ couple wish to meet me, I always shower, shave,.( in all appropriate places) brush my teeth, aftershave,I always dress in smart casual wear and indeed pay attention to everything even my underwear.

Quite frankly my last meeting the woman couldn't have cared less, she made no effort whatsoever..wasn't well presented, her attire joggers and va scruffy tee shirt ( no bra) underwear... every day wear nickers..

The one thing ..which I suppose was at least honest... that she couldn't really be bothered dress sense replicated her attitude..during the meet..I just felt like meat..

As you can see not a great experience.

I did at least as a mark of respect thank her/ them ( as ut was a couple) for their time..

I pride myself that I have standards

I always try and look nice. But it doesn't stop people from not turning up. I always met in a Costa so as a minimum I get a nice coffee if they dont turn up.

Ghosting and no shows has the capacity to really knock your confidence, I’m sorry that happened to you.

I have met sometimes straight after work, and warned the gent that I’m dressed ‘normal’. But normal for me is kinda provocative anyway

If I’ve not had chance to shower, I shower with them at theirs.

Winner winner chicken dinner.

I’m a big fan of soapy shower sex tho

Always present yourself the way you would hope others would present themselves to you.

That doesn't mean dressed top to toe in designer clothes and expensive aftershave but be clean and smart, it is not asking much.

To the original poster, I hope your next meet goes much better.

We are always showered and clean clothed and smelling nice. We can be more casual for a coffee social, but if it's a pub social will make more of an effort be it as single profiles or the couple account.

We can safely say women are equally as bad as men for hygiene. Most we have socialed with will be civilised in that they are clean and smell nice and well presented, but there are handfuls who turn up like they have come straight from a weekend in Glastonbury. Ruby has a pet hate of baseball caps on a meet and here have been a few :p

We have stepped back from the social side for many reasons, and it's often due to people either being too eager, or playing it too cool. It's become a chore, and when you throw in the issues of people just looking for hook up, and as the original poster has found, lack of effort, it has just become a chore :p

Some great replies, thanks. This can feel like hard work at times. The guy in question got in touch to explain he was busy and once I explained I don’t give second chances he proceeded to tell me how he was actually caught up with an amazing threesome (he actually said 3sum).

I mean it must have been amazing to last the whole weekend and clearly I have missed out on so much. Frankly I don’t know how I’ll sleep now.

Anyhow, jumped onto a social and moved on after hitting the block button

If he is reading this, please come to the social so I can buy you a pint for showing your true (or I suspect not true) self at an early stage of the game
