"For us, many are naturally very cliquey. Like a host to introduce, maybe a getting to know you game. For new people a first time social or party is very daunting at best x" Absolutely, introductions are really important, otherwise everyone can end up staying in their own little circle of friends. Intros by the hosts kick the shy into action a bit, I think.

"For me, it's great to be greeted, as I have been at the few socials I've been to. But as someone going on my own, I don't usually know the others. So be helpful to be introduced to someone, to feel included in converse.. My Neurospicyness feels difficult going to new places and saying hello to new people. Ultimately I've got to be responsible for my own social awkwardness / mild introvert. So maybe keeping an eye out on those who might not be chatting in a group. " Good points, I also think its incumbent on the guests to be welcoming to people who plainly don't know anyone and yet had the guts to show up anyway. Even if they don't approach your circle of friends, it's good to bring people in if you see them standing around on their own, looking awkward.

"May I as a gog..as you see a polite one at that...have permission to interact..? Assuming I may (though those with experience know its dangerous to assume,).. Actually I believe you have raised an interesting question.. Certain social skills will come naturally to some..others will not have a clue.. There are fine lines to take into consideration but the ability to read body language is certainly a requirement...some folk need pampering more than others..as you said some go over the top..for you it its over the top but for others it may be what they need. The bottom line is the ideal host is someone you can't wait to be invited back by..no doubt there are some who when are sending invites out again you'll say thanks but no thanks. Also depending upon the event that is being hosted as to what they show their skills.. A social...then being able to interact and mingle..but like a good waiter/waitress have the skill to convey they are there if needed after introductions are done and not pester checking if all OK.. Yes my meal is fine..I prefer I know youre there if I need you.. If hosting a gathering for a meet of fun.. Then a good host would have been diligent in their selection process ensuring there was a good balance of interaction and tastes of those selected to be invited.. Surely it goes without saying that when is hosting such an event..then the host to a certain degree will obviously be sacrificing some of their enjoyment by ensuring the guests needs are being catered for. Who wants to attend a party where the host sings 'its my party I'll cry if I want to' attitude.. So madam that's my twopenneth worth from a polite well mannered gog..who's actually a beast and manners go out the window when I cross the bedroom threshold.. Ps apologies if ive left anyone humming that tune for the rest of the day " This is complete and utter waffle

"We have only attended socials but from our experience Be welcoming, don’t just feel like they are there to take the money and check the names. We have been introduced to some really good people that we are interested in. Blackwood hosts are outstanding, lots of fun, keep control and always mingling " I Second this , the organisers of the Blackwood social are absolutely outstanding at hosting.
