GG party tonight in Cardiff, suspicious?

Hi all

Hope someone can help me.

There was a profile on here a few days ago advertising private events/parties including one in central Cardiff this evening.

The profile was on the face of it, well verified and listed many events that they organise throughout the country.

I made contact, conversation continued on whatsapp, i was given details and booked and paid for my ticket.

They were chatty and helpful initially but I have made contact twice since just to say "hey, just checking still going ahead what with the weather warnings etc" as I'm a nervous newbie and this would be my first time at a party/event. I've had no reply and they've since seemingly deleted their account here.

Is anyone else here able to put their hands up and say "yes I'm going tonight it's all fine!" (And if so be willing to have a drink and a chat with a first timer to put my mind at ease!) Or someone who can say "no no K it WAS too good to be true" etc etc

Thanks in advance!

K

Sorry to hear this has happened. Hopefully it’s genuine. But there’s always the Carmarthen social event tonight if you find yourself without plans x

"I'm confused sorry, why did you have to pay?"

It was the price of the ticket - which didn't raise alarm bells as most events I've seen similar, single Ms have had to pay an entry fee.

Thanks, I'll consider it! But more than likely if it turns out to be fake then I'm going to have to spend this evening working out how I try and explain this to my bank!

I'll be honest it's very likely a scam. Id be very wary of paying for anything or anyone over fab.

Unfortunately that's what I fear. If it was genuine, my thought was at least one other person would have stuck their hand up

Well, went to venue and no contact and so I guess it was indeed a scam. I have reported it to my bank and I'll let them deal with it.

Profile was something like Ashleighxxxx

The bank account name (which she claimed was her partner) is Dylan Cooney. So beware of anyone going by that name

My own fault to a degree. If it's too good to be true...

Heyy, so we were invited also, but though a previous meet, not by the person in question.

Looks like they got a few people. The profile though was a member for over a year and had numerous verifications, so the account did look trust worthy.

I would report the bank transfer as soon as you can to your bank. These days you can report via the banking app.

But sorry babes xx

Thanks, I've reported it to the bank this evening. Will see what happens.

I turned up and there were a few couples driving round looking as lost as I was, so I guess it's either coincidence or they got had as well.

Yeah it was the "strength" of the profile and veris that made it seem legit.

Absolute c***s

Yeah that's the one.

Annoyed at myself for getting scammed so easily. If a mate came to me and told me this is what had happened to him, I'd call him thick. So I have to call myself that too.

Oh well...

That’s what I think. Because they are numerous verifications

Seen it too and it did look absolutely genuine. Hope your bank sort it for you. Can never be to careful in this day and age.

I had the account contact me.

Initially as I'd put some public updates about being in that area.

The profile seemed genuine enough, but I thought something was off.

As I said I couldn't come (had plans)

Never mentioned tickets or money.

But I would agree the profile looked legit.
