I'm thinking of doing a road trip around this area, starting on the North Coast and ending up at Barmouth then into Snowdonia Park before coming home.

Thinking 4 or 5 days.

Looking for recommendations on places to visit, eat, etc.

Go further north up to the llyn peninsula and if you can make it Anglesey. Stunning beaches and nice costal towns. Rhosneigr in Anglesey my favourite ??

The llyn peninsula is definitely worth a visit, Aberdaron lovely little village with a hotel on yhe beach, lots of hidden gems beautiful coastal waks, then you have Anglesey, Beddgelert, Betws y coed, all depends what are you looking for site seeing, hiking?

W Midlands & N Wales

Start at Llandudno, then Conwy onto Anglesey before heading down to the llyn peninsula which is fabulous.

If you've got the time head round through criccieth and harlech onto Barmouth before heading back through Snowdonia to the north coast.

That's a pretty good circular trip with lots to see

North Wales road trip

Your profile says 'SOUTH east'..I'm based near llangollen known as the gateway to North Wales.

The distance factor shows you're over a 100 miles away...therefore other side of brum.

I'm assuming therefore you'll be heading M6 M54 A5..

Depending on commencement of journey

You could make llangollen your first stop ...coffee walk round or overnight...

Plenty of venues..try Cornhill or Gales though other venues..

Activities ..stroll along river..walk cup Dinas bran Castle.or even white water rafting on river dee, a relax3d ride on horse drawn barge on canal or steam train ride.

If l9oking to stay over night..

Hotels

WILD Oheasant..hand..bridge..there's a very good up market bb...cornerstones believe rooms available at gales..

If want a late bar sometimes music the sun..attracts alternative crowd..but all welcome..you'd be OK single woman.

Following suggested route though could be done in reverse...

A5 TO BETWS Y COED scenic village..an 19th century artists haven..

On to Conwy...castle quaint town..

Caernarfon..another castle..town ok..

Take a day for a circular drive around around Anglesey..

Allow another or a good half day for the Llyn peninsular...a must see is the ty cock a pub on the beach at porthdinllaen..

Back to caernarfon to take Llanberis road up nant peris to Beddgelert very quaint then to Harlech..down the ardudwy coast to Barmouth..

If a walker could park in Barmouth and walk old railway route along mawddech estuary to Dolgellau and catch bus back to Barmouth..

The drive along mawddech to Dolgellau is said to be only surpassed by the drive from Dolgellau to Barmouth(or vice versa).

Dolgellau worthy of a coffee stop..

Back to a5 via Bala and its lake..though a nice alternative and not as busy is the road from Bala to Corwen via Llandrillo and Cynwydd and not main route...

If coming back this way turn for chester at Corwen as a more dramatic entry back to llangollen coming down the horseshoe pass..

Unfortunately there's a lack of good hotels in North Wales..Deganwy(opposite Conwy) has one..the quays..also one in Caernarfon..quite a few in Llandudno..

If visiting, the castles in Conwy, Caernarfon and Harlech are a must. You also have the Llangollen and Ffestiniog steam railways. Ffestiniog is a stunning ride from Blaenau ffestiniog to Porthmadog. If you venture as far south as Machynlleth, you have King Arthurs Labyrinth which is a boat trip through underground caverns steeped in history.

I do disagree with the poster about there being a lack of good hotels as there are hotels and b and b's everywhere to match all budgets. A search on booking.com will give you plenty of options as well as reviews. The best hotel on Anglesea is the stunning Chateau Rhianfa overlooking the menai straits.

As mentioned Anglesey lligwy beach and to the north church bay both beautiful and if you like sea food the lobster pot at church bay always use to be great and opp a small campsite.

As you drive around north Wales you’ll just stumble across some lovely areas to explore its right on my doorstep and I never think of going
