"Why is such an importance put on organised social events? And if you can't get to one then that's it? That's your only way of ever hoping to meet. People have lots of reasons for not ever attending organised socials, some work shift work, some have family commitments, some are just shy. Personally I'm a recovering alcoholic and prefer not to go into pubs to socialise as that removes any temptation on my part and seeing as most social events ( or the ones I've seen advertised) are always in pubs. Happy to be corrected on this. I prefer to have a quiet chat in a coffee shop to establish a rapport. Having been on and off this site and others for the past 16 years it's worked for me and I've had some great meets as a result of this and made some great friends in the scene. Not everyone is suited to organised socials but they shouldn't be ostracized or excluded if they can't go. I get that for some people it's a safety in numbers thing and totally understand that. Everyone has their own agenda which is why everyone should find their own way in this life and not try and make it so the only way anyone ever gets to meet is in an organised social event. " Wow...dude, chill! People arent "ostracised or excluded" if they dont go to the socials! He was asking for advice on the best way to improve his chances, and in general, going to socials, at least for a single guy, IS the best way to network, make friends and maybe even get fun meets. Socials arent for you, and you have explained why, and I totally get that, but that doesnt mean they arent for everyone.

"Also I’d also advise you to change your profile photo from a silhouette to some kind of image. " That's probably most important. Your profile is like your shop window, don't have the shutters down
