I have followed several discussions on here about "single males" and no shows, well to paraphrase Max Bygraves . . "I wanna tell you a story"

I saw a Meet request that was local to me (a rarity in itself) so I sent a message, got a response - 10pm and a location, and a number to text when I arrived and I would get final directions.

Got there just before 10pm and texted as instructed . . . waited . . by 10:30 I gave up and texted again saying that I was off home!

I got home to find a message on here asking where I was? It was sent at 9:45pm, which was before I was expected. I responded saying that I did as instructed, arrived on time & texted twice with no response. They have read the message but again no response.

But what annoys me is that they are now implying that I was a timewaster!

I have met people off here and other sites so I know its not typical, but they are spreading the single male = timewaster myth, when in fact, on this occasion its not true.

Sorry, moan over

We had a very similar experience. Arrived at the agreed pub and waited . Text message asking where we were. They had obviously been in the pub because they described what we were wearing. For some reason they changed their minds and left . Ugh .......

Go to a set location and await further instruction? Sounds a bit too James Bond for me, I'd have told them to go forth and multiply. Trust your instincts...that scenario would sound totally fishy to me.

I've actually got into the house - talking to the fella - and the 'lady' has called it off from upstairs without even coming down ... At least I got to finish my drink - there was another guy driving to the house still and he didnt even get told it was off ...

I wonder what percentage of us - couples and singles have had blow outs or time wasting experiences - I'd wager its over 50% !!

In the last three weeks, I've had 2 couples blow out last minute (within 2 hours of the meet), 1 cancelled meet (within 30 mins), and three let downs who suggested they would be free - but then 'forgot' ...

I've also had two lovely meets with lovely ladies .... Its those that keep us playing

Its a shame we cant have a way of naming and shaming the time wasters, but we all know the rules ...

We never agree to meet, either socially or especially to play, without having either chatted face-to-face (at a social usually), or on the phone.... to both if it's a couple.

So far (touch wood) in 4 years we have only had one no-show, and they let us know in advance, pretty good going!!!

We had the same experience of a guy not turning up and then he saying "where are you?" He then changed his profile to almost a gay one a fe days later.

He had chatted by phone and exchanged text even on the morning of meet. We even suspect he was close enough to the meeting point to see us judging by something he said in this last text.

Just leaving home to meet someone and we are wondering if he will show or not. Fingers x'ed,

I have to admit, I hate no shows or cancellations.... I hate having to cancel too.... But I have learnt that if I can still meet whomever.... I will do my best. I have to admit that back in February I was admitted to hospital as an emergency and had to cancel someone, to this day, he hasn't spoken to me.... I had to have an operation on my back, so not all cancellations are because people do not want to meet.... even if I dont want to play, I will always meet and say so... it seems only fair.

xx
