"There's no real way to describe the correct Welsh pronunciation as some of the letter sounds don't exist in an English context. For the 'Ll' letter, touch the tip of your tongue lightly to the roof of your mouth where it naturally rests. Open your mouth slightly and breathe out with moderate force (don't blow). The air escaping to either side of your tongue will make a lisping hiss. As soon as you have this, flip your tongue forward and say 'laa'. That's the letter 'Ll'. Stick an 'n' at the end and you have 'Llan'. " Correct!

"A few years back I went to Llandudno. Was told it was pronounced Clan-dudno. On TV this morning Chris Packam said L-andudno. Which is correct?." Neither. The double L (Ll) is a stand alone letter in the welsh alphabet. It makes a sound which is difficult to describe but is made by placing yoyr tongue on the top of your mouth and blowing out of the side of your mouth. (This is much easier to explain in real life lol)
