My last 4 meets and socials the guys have been picking me up (literaly)!

What is with guys wanting to pick up women?

How do I overcome my irrational fear of being picked up? I get very tense, thighs clench around them and have a mini anxiety attack.

Thank you Filthy Forum Advisors

Ok it's early in the morning and I'm thick and not had nearly enough coffee yet.

Pick up as in drive or pick up off the floor?

1st. being a gentleman.

2nd. show of strength to impress a potential mate. Just watch David Attenborough programs to see other species doing similar lol

I don't like being picked up either, never have. But then, not many are strong enough to try.

Do they not even ask you first? A bit weird if it's only a social.

Yeah I'd find that a bit weird trying to pick up a woman in Costa.

Maybe do the dirty dancing pick-up thing in the car park when you first see each other.

Around

Maybe it's because they don't respect any boundaries, or they haven't had their daily work out. If they are picking you up to throw you on the bed in a playful seductive way then I can see the why. But picking you up just because they can seems weird

Near Cowbridge

I've picked a woman up but it was when she was on the desk and I was inside her and I wanted to move to the bed. Picking her up made sense as I didn't want to break the connection, so to speak.

Powerslamming a meet in Starbucks is something of a faux pa though.

That was probably my own doing. I was standing on a raised ledge and kissing him, he wrapped his arms around my legs and brought me lower, but just held me there.

They've all been strong enough, but I get such huge anxiety about it x

There was a bed involved in a couple of them.... and I was indeed thrown onto the bed after I had palpitations

Picking my up outside the bedroom, it's headbutt you. I would absolutely throw a fit, I don't like it at all.

Throw me around all you like in the bedroom though, in fact I welcome it

Time and a place!

Does this mean I have to go to the gym, surely just buying a coffee would do

Is that what they mean when a guy calls himself a "pick up artist"?

In social settings I tend to get picked up quite often by men! I’m a hugger, which seems to suggest to guys that they can pick me up at the same time haha! I put it down to the fact that I’m so short and pocket sized ! What goes through my head when they do it? Ok you can put me down now ! Mr can do it whenever he likes, but guys down the local erm no thanks! Miss pc

Do you want to "get over it"?

Maybe make it something you mention before meets? "Please don't pick me up without warning". They may be taking the thigh clench as a positive sign as well.

If it's causing that much anxiety it's not something that's going to go away quickly. Maybe try with someone you trust/have met a few times and see if it eases once you know someone?

Yea, the thigh clench probably doesn't help!

I struggle to trust which is probably where my anxiety comes from.

Thank you for the suggestion. Will give it a go! x

I've never offered or picked a woman up. I prefer social meet first, at a Costa etc. I find it helps build trust after chatting online beforehand. Picking someone up kinda oversteps the boundary for me. I'm not sure it's safe.

As for nerves, yes I too struggle with anxiety. It's part of my DNA lol. Just try to keep busy and focus on the fun aspect
