I basically lost my last job because my boss wanted to but didn’t have the balls, so wanted to get rid of me to remove temptation. So these days I’m vaguely friendly to colleagues but keep everyone at arms length. Don’t shit where you eat and all that.

Well that's a claim for an employment tribunal if I ever heard one. Completely illegal to lose you're job over such circumstances.

I have and immediately regretted it - with a main client who was engaged at the time. Too much booze and a meeting that required an overnight stay. I knew it could happen and it did. Made things rather awkward afterwards especially when she told all her mates at work!
