"Any metal heads here? As in someone that enjoys listening to metal music Heavier the better for me Xxx " My tastes range from Classic rock all the way through to hardcore thrash… becoming a regular festival goer (Steelhouse next month… Yay!) and usually do 4 or 5 gigs a year on top of Download etc.

"I’ve been a metalhead pretty much all my life - well, since the mid-80s anyway. I particularly love symphonic metal and industrial, but mostly just like anything melodic/clean vocals and headbangable." I stumbled onto some symphonic stuff and now play a lot of Nightwish, Within Temptation, and Epica.

You do need to stumble on it - or have it recommended - because you’ll rarely hear about it in mainstream metal circles. But it’s a bit of a rabbit-hole when you do and it always seems to lead to more and more bands!

Steelhouse in 3 weeks also" Steelhouse for me too… Particularly looking forward to Europe (a lot more bluesy than Final Countdown days) and Those Damn Crows

But it sort of needs to be in small doses! But it gets tiring on the ears if there’s too much of it.

I admire some of the musicians and I love the passion its fans have for that music though. The spirit of togetherness they have. I used to love seeing them all out in Cardiff when Septic Velociraptor, or some other band, rolled up to play in town. One of the last tribes (with plenty of misfits in, which is a massive compliment!). Good tribes are good things.

"Bogeys on penarth road the duke in neath lion's den in the gwr the casblanca tonypandy naval four 7's the normandie in bangor what other rock clubs were people going to back in the day?" Absolute metal head here. I used to love fucking to Metallica's Black album, or some AC/DC or DIO. Remembering The Normadie in Bangor brings back great memories of good music, good friends and great fucking. Nights out in the Normandy and Bangor led me to my first MFM threesome at 20 with an older married couple, same room fun with my girlfriend, her friend and her boyfriend and Out door fun up Bangor mountain or down by the pier on the way back home after a night out. Best times, fondly remembered, lived in Bangor between 1988 and 1994.

Vaffan Culo were very active along with some metal bands who sang in Welsh, but the Welsh bands were more indie if I recall correctly.

"I was there too. And in 1988 when Maiden 1st headlined. The crowd that year was absolutely insane. R.I.P Alan & Landon." 1988 MOR was my 1st rock festival. You was able to pay on the gate then, hence the big crowds.

It was a fantastic lineup that year too. I had no idea about the 2 guys who got crushed until I got home. No cellphones back then either so my folks were frantic until I walked through the door, covered in mud up to my knees, haha ! I was only 17 that year.
