there seems to be 2 interpretations of this.

Some take it in the way I would take it to mean and their pics duly reflect that they need a truck to help them out of bed. Others read it as an endorsement of their appearance and in their pics are jaw droppingly attractive.

What is your take?

I would take is as looking good, tbh never associated it with needing a truck to get them out of bed. I am not welsh so is it a welsh meaning ? I genuinely never thought of any other meaning for it... shit maybe all these guys weren't being so nice about our pics then

It is just a colloquialism, a large female friend of mine used it once and it stuck in my mind as quite funny.

Haven't seen your pics sop can't comment (also wouldn't be so rude as to pass judgement). I'm just curious as to people's context of "fabulous"

I can say it is quite ambiguous here.

Sometimes as the OP says, it literally reflects and is literally as the dictionary definition of fabulous, in this case the 'fabulous' as society deems it, slim, toned body.

However, others do use it when they are large. My guess is that this is some sort of off shoot from the BBW Big Beautiful Woman thing that is obviously a well worn phrase here and elsewhere.

IT can be somewhat confusing but it is as the person using it wants it to be. If they say they are fabulous for being slim etc then use it by all means if you feel good about that.

If you are larger and want to use it as a description then why not? Do. As swinging can be described I suppose as an alternative society, then its use within that society can be and seems to be so far ambiguous.

Personally, if I mail somebody who describes themselves with fabulous, it is a lottery as to whether they are one or the other but should that matter? It has been put on there as an option by administrators so I am perfectly happy playing that game. My personal preference is the fabulous that describes slim but that is not to say I get disappointed or angry or anything of the sort should it turn out that somebody with the opposing definition mails me back. It might turn out that you may like eachother regardless, it might not, ho hum, don't complain and get on with it.

However, it is worth saying that slim, athletic, average etc do not have the same ambiguity and should therefore be used appropriately, that can lead to disappointements etc.

I am sorry if I have written some things clumsily, I am originally from Bosnia and still do not have the turn of British phrase that beats around bushes and is polite...

Petri

perfect reply Petri, it is the ambiguity that does not seem to be reflective of the other descriptive statuses, and you are right it doesn't really matter. I suppose the potential other ambiguity is "large" for men. Does that mean fat, big build, or hung? I imagine some women have been left disappointed by that one, and some guys using it to describe their manhood miss out on potential contacts

I describe my self as fabulous but as my name describes I'm not a thin chick lol don't want to say curvy or large as I think why lie when I'm clearly a bigger woman not that I need a truck or have my wall knocked down to get me out of bed lmao... so many people lie on here could say the same as 'ample ' what is ample lol say the truth ain't it?

I'm glad I am not the only one that finds this confusing! Same can be said for ample there are some very slim but big breasted ladies that say they are ample and then there are the larger women who say they are ample

... And then there's curvy!!

Id take the word ample to mean more than enough so bigger than average so thats the one i pick. Im too fat for curvy. Could use large but.at a size 18 that would leave no word for someone bigger. Thats why i choose ample

Well confused now lol

Well I would never describe myself (mrs) as Fabulous anyway, other people might have said it about our pics (of me).

But assumed that it meant 'good or exceptionally good, marvellous, superb' etc as per how I have always used that word throughout my life never considered any other meaning at all.

Certainly confusing and makes me wonder now what people meant lol, maybe I shouldn't have thanked them for their comments after all

Everyone seems to have a different idea with regards to "fabulous" or "curvy" or "ample"

All of the above confuse the fuk out of me so I always insist on recent pics lol.

BBW seems to be very consistent though.

When I first joined I listed myself as curvy. I am a size 8 but short and consider myself to have curves.

However, experience has taught us that some people double my size are listed curvy.

I then joined a gym so I could list myself as athletic lol...xx

Well I am only refering to the term 'Fabulous' as people have said it about my pics, I have never and would never refer to myself as fabulous.

People say fabulous pics etc then I assume they mean good pics, nice pics etc, not fat pics !!

The original post does't make much sense. the word Fabulous means different thing to different people, as does the word attractive.....what some people find attractive others might not, in the same way what one would describe as fabulous another wouldn't so it is in the eye of the beholder. So if the original posters definition of fabulous is 'needs a truck to get them out of bed' then that's your perception but not always that of others. Or is it just a fattist remark designed to upset the larger users of the site.

In reply to that I can't see where it doesn't make sense, attractive is a different word so to try and juxtapose it with fabulous is less than a fair comparison. It is generally the case that people either see Fabulous as very reubenesque or as an endorsement of what society conventionally finds attractive. I don't want to be touchy but your closing line is probably more inflammatory than the original post.

I am certainly not "fattist" and it is not a post designed to upset people in anyway shape or form.

yes the word fabulous means different things to different people, the thrust of my posit being "what does it mean to you?" So far, yourselves included, have found it to be one of the more ambiguous labels on the site. I didn't realise that in attempting to start a debate I should have given you all the answers as well

Society is the true test of a words definition. Should the word fabulous begin to mean large in swingers cirlces then it just becomes like cool meaning good instead of well, cool.

Come on all, this is being told to you by a Bosnian...

I hate labels and pigeon holing people. Its great to be able to describe yourself as fabulous where slim or larger. It comes down to peoples perceptions of ample, fabulous etc. I am not slim and could do with loosing weight but pretty comfortable with my size. I admire people that have the confidence to call themselves fabulous and admire their confidence.

Size isn't a measure of how sexy or desirable a person is and I do understand that people have preferences and respect that. I have b een lucky enough to have had fun with ladies of all sizes and shapes. It is the person that is sexy and a request for a recent pic should always help when arranging personal meets.

Not sure if that all makes sense but just wanted to express my view.....9heers

Its the same as saying athletic really now to me an athletic figure would be some gym bunny who works hard on thier phyique to become fit and well defined but then you click on the photos and the only work the arms do is underarm power wanking on cam they just happen to be on the slimmer side but i would think they are just average..... horses for courses i suppose.

Its all about yourself and how you feel and if you are confident and feel fabulous then why not use it... i am a big girl but i dont feel the need to impress others tbh i am here for my pleasure and no one elses!

Fabulous comes from the word FABLE.A tale of greatnes, splendour etc. Not a description of a person's size.Shortened the word becomes FAB. Fab swingers ! Ring a bell??? Have a look at the photos most FABbed. Draw your own conclusions but in this environment judging by the opinions of others who fab pics it seems to mean those who are willing to get naked and do sex with their faces showing. Disclaimer... Not my own opinion. Am not fattist. I go with my first sentence.
