Head for Glyn Neath, just north of there is what's known as waterlall country. There's also one that the footpath goes behind the waterfall. It makes great photos. Also there is one near Resolven that's been visited and written about by classic authors. They are going to be busy on a bank holiday weekend, but there are plenty of other canalside and forest walks that are less well known, and brilliant for photos.

If you fancy more of a trek then Henrhyd waterfall is worth a visit but the car park is small and its a steep climb back up.

You are very welcome, pm me if you want directing to some little known location. Also worthy of note is a place called Merthyr Mawr near Bridgend. It's got thatched cottages, and a suspension foot bridge where you can walk across to ogmore castle, with stepping stones over a river. Also down there is an honesty box car park, with dunes and a wide beach that's very little visited.

West Wales and Cardiff

The Carmarthenshire Fans (the western ridge of the Brecon Beacons are reachable from the Swansea Valley.

Great walking and wonderful views. Getting busier these days, though.

Welsh Wales

If you are in Swansea, go to Kilvety Hill.

45-60 minute walk to the top for unrivalled views across the entire city, uninterrupted from Mumbles Head to Aberavon and on a fine day across to Ilfracombe.

It is truly stunning. Took my 8 year old son up there for the first time recently and all he could say was ‘wow’.

Ideal for a picnic at the top and wander back down.

I love this. The landscapes of Wales are something that bring me so much joy - it’s great to hear a young lad respond like that. It’ll stand him in very good stead
