What are people's plans during the enforced (necessary ?) welsh prohibition. Who is going to visit a pub before 6pm for a drink before stop tap. And who will still visit after for a soft drink or stock up their man/woman caves

Think a lot of places are shutting their doors till january and some may not open up again .

Rip welsh hospitality.

It has been fun both working and participating in a wonderful and safe industry.

Yes i know that. Still have loads of friends who work in hospitality and just as many who supply them. Most if not all are dreading xmas and the new year.some are weighing up their options. Sell apply for grant loose money and still have to sell or hope the is some light when the assembly vote on the latest restrictions on tuesday

It is an idiotic decision by Drakeford. If some Pubs broke the rules they should have been shut down, but instead the 0.1% have led to a 100% shutdown. Yes, I blame the idiots, but the biggest idiot is Drakeford

Drakeford and Gething need to go if the pubs have to shut at 6 let them serve alcohol till 6. We have people in the Welsh assembly who have not got a clue. The only reason Betsi health board has come out of special measures is political hoping they will gain votes next year Gething should be sacked the mental health side of our health board is a mess and needs sorting out people are suffering due to very poor management and a dreadful Chairman Polin who has not got a clue about health. The only way to show Drakeford and Gething what we think of there crazy ways is to email/write to them and tell them what people really think the more people do this the more they will be forced to listen.I feel so sorry for the thousands of people who work in the hospitality sector don't they think people have suffered enough. The Welsh Assembly has failed yet again it is not fit for purpose the way it is.

They are just going to push people who, given the time of year, will drink and socialise anyway, but will now do so in the unrestricted environments of each others homes, rather than, at least until 10pm, being in a "covid secure" regulated environment, where they had to abide by certain rules. They've dropped a bollock with this one. Seens as the aim seems to be to stop people gathering to socialise, this is going to have a massively opposite effect than intended and we will be back to a position in a month or so when, like a few months back, the highest cases of transmission were all apparently down to people meeting up indoors in private dwellings. A poorly thought out decision as well as crippling the hospitality industry even further than they already have.

Couldn’t agree more. If alcohol is the problem then stop off licence and supermarket sales too. This will all but guarantee a New Year Lockdown.

I can see why they have done it, its to stop the christmas parties people will get d*unk and say sod social distancing.

But they could have done it differently maybe limit the amount of drink that's taken to the table. They have killed the pubs, its not worth the pubs to open just to sell soft drinks, dickford the grinch that stole christmas

Someone asked both gethin first thing this morning then drakeford again lunchtime where is the evidence to show hospitality is to blame. They had 4 hours to provide it so it could be ready for the next set of questions during lunch time briefing but yet again they could not provide non existent evidence.

I will be among the first to admit i'm wrong if they do provide it.

The apparent rate of people catching covid in hospitals and schools and supermarkets is a lot higher than that in hospitality.

Also if hospitals are starting to be stretched why were the welsh nightingale hospitals dismantled or partially dismantled.

There was a mad dash the other week to rebuild the one in bridgend. Must be costing the welsh tax payer a fortune paying well known welsh construction firms to build them take them apart then rebuild it. Not to mention the risk to the workers. Think once this is resolved there will be a lot of people in all governments being asked some very awkward questions by which time they will have " forgotten or misplaced" the answers or no longer be accountable some have already announced they plan to leave in the new year (family reasons etc.)

But they are more important than hospitality, whether you like it or not.

So in a year of shitty decisions, pubs were always going to take the hit.

The other half works in education and more and more parents are starting to ask questions about them needing to be open when online learning is and option for most. And for those that cannot access it then they can be picked up by the schools and taught on site in smaller numbers. Also many of the younger students are worried about catching the virus and passing it to either their parents or grandparents. So so much for mental health

So they could attend schools.

But more and more teaching and assistant staff in comps are catching the virus. Its great to have them in their year bubbles when there but getting there they all mix on transport there and back. Education is very important but so are the lives of the school staff.

Children absolutely can get Covid-19 but the younger you are the less severe the symptoms and the less likely you are to transmit it apparently. Which is one small mercy when you think about it.

Brains announced last week that all their pubs will be closed till january. Think those that can afford it may do the same.

A pub without alcohol is like a fire truck without water. Looks impressive but doesn t do the job its designed to do. ( other comparison are available)

The prohibition doesn't really bother me as I don't drink alcohol. But I still think it's a stupid idea for the pubs to be allowed to open but not sell alcohol.

I run a pub and its in Wales...boy what a dreadful year this has been and 2021 isn't going to start any different. I have a suspicion we get a week reprieve for xmas but will be shut down again before new year feel into 2021. I am lucky we have a good food following and we can actually trade under the restrictions but some, especially wet led are going to find it hard to survive this. Don't expect any return to "normality" for hospitality until May-June or later...Its a long game and those left will truly be lucky and survivors..

Talking to friends in the industry think your being a little optimistic but a week around xmas. Most we know are not opening till the new year those that will reopen that is.

Swansea cases and neath p talbot are rising and i think after xmas if it the rate doesn t lower we could all be in another lock down including schools and construction

Think schools should only be open to those who are on the schools at risk list. And also those who work in front line. The rest can work from home. Think a lot of schools in swansea may well move to blended working the end of this week as too many staff and students isolating.as for supermarkets the larger ones have the funds to provide more in store marshals to guide customers in the right direction and be more observant of social distancing rules. Tesco in swansea is like a free for all on the weekends.other supermarkets aren't much better but can only comment on tesco and asda. Lidl tends to be a little less busy when we shop. As for hospitals if all sterile rules and cleaning is followed you should not have many if any cases caught and not just covid mrsa and various other bugs.

Think its time the bosses in hospitals got their hands dirty again instead of sitting in their airconditioned offices blaming all below them.

No matter what party . And those that don't soon find that their opinions don't matter.

Think polititians should have to answer to their constituants on an annual basis and then depending on how much or little they have achieved it should be the people who decide how much they are paid. And if they can have another year. Or be sacked

Just receiced a voice mail doing the rounds that is a lady stating "her brother was told by a police super that on the 17th the welsh assembly are going to announce all alcohol in wales is to be banned supermarket etc"

Don t go out and dont mix with anyone outside your household. Does that mean stay home from work keep your kids homeand dont go shopping.

Then tonight on itv news again there was a guy who said hospital and itu beds have not increased with new cases but people who are recovering???

Who is telling the truth as drakeford said nhs on verge of being overun

Also the welsh goverment were given money for extra itu beds .and health minister said plans are in place but still no additional beds. Almost 10mths later . Where has the money gone ???

Absolutely. The Senedd or Welsh Parliament can improve hugely but you have to ask yourself if Ireland would be the country it is today if it had stayed under Westminster.
