Hey all, I have recently purchased a van just wondering if anyone else on here is in the VW camper scene or alternative campers?

I looked at the T4 it was the little refinements that won it over and the van has 100k not 250+ haha love the classic vw's

T4 that is normally found on the a55 or around anglesey, practical durable and fun, she will even run on cooking oil!

Ah brilliant. More vans clogging up the decent roads around here

They look great to be fair but not sure I'd want to drive a van day in day out and I can't justify having one only for days out and holidays.

Hope you enjoy though

Don't worry she gets to anglesey and is used for launching my boat and changing in, I also have a classic gt car and a classic sports car for making progression;?

That does sound appealing don't come knocking when the van is rocking

It’s a brilliant van! And a great size too, not as cumbersome as a T5 for every day use, drives like a car, but has the practicality of the van

I have had cars, some nice motors tbh but I want to enjoy weekends away and like the whole idea of just getting in the van and disappearing for a few nights

I actually prefer driving the van to some of my previous cars.

I've got a converted T4. Looked at the T5's but all the ones I drove were slow and I slightly prefer the look of the T4's. I've put the little bit on mine like electric windows and mirrors, puddle lights etc. T4's are like 20 years old now but I still think they look cool hah.

Question if I may for camper van / mobile home drivers...

What's the craic with drinking...?

If someone had had a few pints and got into their car with no intention of driving....they can be done for being a control of a vehicle even if not intending to drive...

Driving a camper van you could park up for the night....enjoy a drink...

Would you be still be prosecuted ?

England particularly your usually parked on private land (camping park etc) so not an issue. But as you aren't putting keys in the ignition or getting in the drivers seat I guess it should be OK parked in a layby in say Scotland

I test drove a few T4's and love the retro look of them. I did struggle with the comfort and seating position being 6"3 tho lol

The T5 I have won't win any races but it has plenty of power or atleast it will tomorrow when it gets plugged it haha

There's loads of things you can do with the old tech of a T4. I've lowered my seat base, changed the seats, threw bigger injectors in, new intercooler, amended the fuel pump timing and had it remapped. Genuinely not much overtakes me ever, definitely no VW van. When we go anywhere we're normally in a convoy of about 15 of us and I'm made to go in the middle of the pack or id just disappear hah.

Getting the T5 mapped will make a World of difference

Good man you won't regret that. All my cars have been remapped and the EGR's deleted, SOOOO much better, loads more torque. The remap on my T4 alone wouldn't have been enough as they are 20yrs old and old tech now hence why I put bigger injectors, new intercooler and preloaded the turbo a bit more so my 2.5 T4 is knocking out 150bhp. Your's is probably more as its a PD engine

That's pretty cool to be fair.

Houses are overated and expensive, pitch up a van and stay where ever ?? a friend of mine lived in a big static van and it was huge!!

It's definitely different from living in a house but costs are really low and it doesn't take long to tidy and clean
