I thought that we can still work and travel for work but today someone just told me that it's not allowed after tonight.

I don't know to make of it now

I thought so but the bloke in the motorbike shop said its only if essential work and a builder friend of mine said he can't work unless it's a job which needs to be done urgently.

The problem with the rules is that there has been no clear determination on what counts as acceptable.

The Assembly, in my opinion, should have detailed precisely what is and is not deemed to be permitted work. I think they dodged that bullet because of accusations of being draconian.

I suppose it all depends where you work. Just seen on the news that supermarkets are not allowed to sell no essential items. Clothes, shoes, bedding or electrical items but you can buy alcohol. It’s an absolute joke. To some people them items will be essential

His reasoning being that they have forced clothes shops etc to close so in the interest of fair play, supermarkets should not be able to sell those items either. So I can see his logic, not that I agree with it

So much as a like a pub I think if they stayed closed it would of prevented the virus from spreading a lot more than it has and maybe we wouldn't have to lockdown again

So if your kettle breaks you’re not allowed to replace it - believe me, keeping myself caffeinated is essential for everyone!

It’s an absolute joke coming out with something like he has, before that announcement he had done a pretty good job considering, but people still need these items. Starting to get a bit silly now.

Doesn't apply to home deliveries though as we are still supplying everything and alcohol after 8

Professional football games are still going ahead because he said they can't do that from home

On that basis, any work that you can't do from home is fine to continue (unless it's in a business that has to close).

No, they still expect you to work, then straight home after to your comfy little prison cell, I mean home

Then you better get out and Xmas shop to stimulate the economy

Then you'd better praise the government for 'saving xmas'

Then go back in lockdown in January or February because of the third wave caused by your family Xmas, you awful people you

Just thank your lucky stars that I am not an elected politician.

Because trust me more than half of you wouldn't like my rules .

It's a fucked up situation. I am fortunate to be able to work (even though I fundamentally disagree with it) throughout. I travel from Wales to one of Boris' Tier 3 environments 5 x per week and back and will continue to do so until Christmas. And no, I don't work for or on behalf of the NHS.

And yet I am well. The very few people I interact with, are well. Why? Because we have unlimited funds for virus protection as a professional institution than the NHS do. That's not a criticism, that's just fact. If I get ill, I can sue when I can prove that I have followed the almost ridiculous procedure for sterilisation of my working environment. It's all done on camera. Miss a spot? I risk losing my job to somebody who didn't miss that spot . The valiant NHS cannot. And that's wrong.

Controversial I know, and open to plenty of discussion is.. Society discipline. How many company managers, staff, private people are already testing the loopholes.

You can argue Socialism/Capitalism etc etc.

We should feed our people whom by our own social rules are at risk.

We should put roofs over their heads that are guaranteed until their legal rights to challenge are void.

The fact is, this Covid nonsense has levelled the old fashioned 2 party politics.

It's now about whom does the right things the best. Problem is, this is a 2020 problem that did not exist in 2019 for the UK.

Note my paraphrasing etc.

We are all in this until 9/11.

Save your energy until then, nothing will change for Wales until then.

Spread the love and support

Sorry to hear that.

I must be a right stupid prick as well for believing that my cousin is in hospital on a ventilator as we speak after being diagnosed with having covid 19 and not only him but a lot more relitives of mine who it's thought caught it at a wedding and most don't show any symptoms but they have been told to isolate.

However I would like to hear his opinion about it?

Yep.

I do wonder when we will get a grip on this & actually get to hear & focus on reality.

Despite everything that we have been told only 5 critical care beds were occupied by Covid patients as of Thursday 22nd at UCH Cardiff.

Spaces in ICU were low.... but by no means just as a result of Covid.

So we are shutting down again to protect

the NHS from being overwhelmed but not just from Covid...?

I understand the fear that a spike in serious Covid cases might yet put greater pressure on services. And there are over 30 non ICU Covid cases at UCH. However there is already huge pressure on services, due to the enormous catch up now required because of the last lockdown, for any number of non covid illnesses.

Sooner or later we have to learn to live (& cope) with it. There are STILL some crazy restrictions in place -I haven't been able to go back to my previous job because of restrictions on distancing which is still 2m (in Wales). I am not permitted to restart until it falls to 1m -yet hairdressers etc have been open. Figure that one out.

The virus is not going to vanish any time soon. We cant stop it, only manage the spread to a limited degree.

We should be focusing on protecting the elderly & the vulnerable far more actively. There has been no blanket notice across the uk for the elderly & vulnerable to self isolate as there was the last time -how crazy is that?

The sensible ones will be doing so & many nursing homes have sensibly never lifted restrictions.

The rest of us should be vigilant & aware of the true risks & dangers. For example, anyone under 40 is at (virtually) no risk at all (assuming you have no underlying health conditions).

There is no risk to the average school child /uni age student who has no underlying health condition ...just keep it on campus!!

Maybe we'll have a vaccine soon. Or maybe not. If we do, how long will it take to produce & vaccinate 70million people when we've not even been able to get remotely close to testing that number of people since the start of the pandemic.

If this cycle of shutdown continues there will be no economy left to protect. Anyone not in public sector jobs are facing massive challenges. Those in public sector jobs are protected (in the short term) until the government are forced to cut spending to pay for everything. Let's pray inflation stays low & therefore interest rates too. Government borrowing now at a 60 YEAR HIGH relative to GDP. Thats worse than it's been my entire lifetime. It'll take a while to pay for it all....

This argument makes total sense when each point is taken as observation in total observation.

But like any new situation things are open to interpretation. And we all know that when there is political interest, you can make 69 look like a 96 you might have been interested in.

Covid specific deaths or not, are up. Massively. Now I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want to have that phone + when I'm told to get here As Soon As Possible. Because believe me there will be a HGV getting a parking ticket in that area along with a good few insurance claims in the parking lot, because I will get there and yeah.

I don't particularly care if you believe in Covid-19. But you damned well better believe in the impact it's effects are having. People are dying, directly or not because of it.

And if I get that call, I will arrive with triple 9 escort because trust me, no regulations will do justice.

This stuff is real. Protect the people you care about.

You got it buddy! keep working while the government kill the elderly and vulnerable off to save money on pensions/disability allowances ect because the world is fucked (especially Britain) We're unable to pay credit cards and borrowed money back because there is no money/jobs and are over populated. Something had to give as we cant have world wars no more so this had to happen

Ok here's the thing. I am not an epidemiologist so not qualified to comment on the current scientific thinking. Therefore I am not qualified to comment on the sense or otherwise of the government strategy. But one thing I am pretty confident of having done a reasonable amount of research is that certain sections of society need to grow the fuck up and take personal responsibility for their actions! By this I mean those fools who were desperate for a pint no matter the risk, or happily enjoying themselves in crowded places ignoring all semblance of social distancing or common sense. If everyone had acted responsibly we wouldn't be in another lock down. So before pointing the finger at politicians in Wales - and I am no lover of them believe me - look to those who you know who have acted like idiots. Even in Sweden they only did well because people were responsible enough to think of the good of all society by being sensible with their social distancing behaviour. Is the current approach in Wales the right one, I don't know, but I do know that this mess doesn't solely lie at the foot of government? Good grief if the wartime generation could see all the whining and selfishness that is going on now they woukd be horrified. All that said, I think Boris and his cronies are a disaster. We are handling it a little better in Wales. In the long term we will have to move to a strategy of protecting the vulnerable until a vaccine is found or herd immunity is possible and can be achieved without sacrificing any more lives than we would under lockdown. But to conclude, we can manage just fine with regards to hair dryers and the like, online is your friend, and I have no patience with those fucking idiots who choose to wine about everything whilst acting irresponsibly themselves, as I so often witnessed when out pre this lock down.
