I'm dismayed at the number of people who say they like bareback sex...

I know it's mainly gay and bi guys, but it's surprising how many there are generally.

As someone who's old enough to remember the 1980's when HIV/AIDS became a big worry, I'm amazed at the complacency or ignorance of so many folks...

I'm not the preachy sort, but thought some stats on here might be useful:

People living with HIV in the UK:

The number of people living with HIV in the UK has trebled in the last 10 years

More than 90,000 people are living with HIV in the UK.

Around a quarter of people with HIV in the UK are undiagnosed.

About two thirds of people living with HIV are men and a third are women.

Over half of all people living with HIV are aged between 30 and 49, but there are significant numbers both of young people and older people now living with HIV.

The latest figures for 2010 show:

6,658 new HIV diagnoses.

The two groups most affected remain gay and bisexual men and black African heterosexuals – over three-quarters of people diagnosed with HIV in 2010 were among these two groups.

3,000 new HIV diagnoses among men who have sex with men — the highest number ever recorded in a year.

3,350 new HIV diagnoses were acquired heterosexually and more than two-thirds of these acquired their HIV abroad

Half of adults were diagnosed with HIV at a late stage of infection (after the point at which treatment should have begun).

It's not just about HIV, there are a lot of other very unpleasant STDs out there, most can be cured with an embarrassing trip to the doctors or GUM clinic, others are with you for life! We'd rather just keep bareback between ourselves.

Couldn't agree more but we, like most sensible people on here don't need it preached in a long patronising list of facts like some government website , our own sense of self preservation and common sense tell us how risky unprotected sex is. We don't play bareback full stop but no matter how we feel about people that that do have unprotected sex we still have to respect their right to do it if that's their chosen lifestyle , the people that play with them know the risks too .

Agree, bareback for us only between us.. been together nearly 20 years. But condoms for anyone else.. I have to admit we have not been on the site long and I am shocked at the number of single guys that get really funny that we insist on condoms. Obviously they all get told to jog on, but still they get very pushy trying their best to change your mind. As we say we are clean and safe and have family never worth the risk. The younger guys on here are the ones that want it mainly...

we went 2 a house party n lots of cpls there ,condoms at the ready in my bag ,,play commenced ,,1 guy put on condom played with female n then tried 2enter another girl with used condom on ,,,i told the girl wot he had done n she sed it ok i cant get pregnant ,,,,surely not i thort n left the room ,,,,,,sum ppl never learn do they ,,,

Please forgive me about patronising a post which was untraditionally posted in a patronising way, to which I about patronise the example on patronising by pointing out what patronising is. the example is from an American site that didn't proof read

Patronize Example: To be patronized is to be treated as if you are less intelligent or knowledgeable than the person you’re speaking with, and it can be one of the most frustrating experiences you can have in life.

Anyone can be patronized -- men, women, seniors, young people -- and patronization can take on many forms, such as:

• Addressing someone by their first name when others are addressed more properly

• Patting a person in a wheelchair on their head or soldier

• Giving excess praise to someone for a fairly simple action

• Assigning someone remedial tasks at work or at home

• Speaking slowly or excessively loud to an elderly person

• Talking “down” to someone

For the record I know the risks connected to the scene and I always wear the shield of sex should a damsel require my sword of excitement. I don't need to be told about the dangers, however informative their intentions maybe.

It certainly wasn't intended to be patronising. To anyone who felt it was, I apologise. At least it got some discussion going. Of course, most people on here are grown-up and sensible, but there are quite a few people who just seem to think that HIV's a thing of the past.

And yes, I can cut and paste - I'm not looking for awards here!

Anyway - we all know that condoms are ugly, awkward etc etc but a necessary evil.

While everyone has posted about how this post was patronizing and congratulating on paste and copying and about how adult we are I have notice not one of you has posted about how stupid it is to bare back

I have seen on 1 rare occasions people trying to bare back...................

thankfully this is rare

I alway check to make sure they have a condom on as when your drinking and caught up in the moment sometimes it easy to think sod it but as swingers we need to be more aware....... so dont think about how the post sounds think about the message its getting across.......... think safe think condom

And always look both ways before crossing the road, dont talk to strangers, save abit each week for a rainy day, The point being we dont need anyone to preach to us what we should and shouldnt do or to tell us to be 'more adult' !
