Positives from the Pandemic

Don’t get us wrong, the pandemic has been horrible and I’m sure the after effects will be far reaching and equally disturbing.

However, with many of us learning to live life in a different way due to these lockdown conditions - are there any changes that you’d like to see continued after / if this all blows over?

For us, one small thing would be the supermarkets having a designated shopping slot for the elderly or vulnerable! We think that’s a really nice idea and could really improve the lives of those people that need to use those slots - even when this is all done and dusted!

Yup. Agree. They should make different time slots in the day too. Not every older person gets up at 7am to go shopping at 8am.

I like the quiet roads.

Maybe if trains were cheap it would stop everyone using cars. The population should be equally spread over all form of transportation.

The lives saved from reduced carbon emissions and air pollution equate to more than have died from the virus. Just reinforces the need for dramatic action regarding global warming.

The trains are already overcrowded at the current prices. No seats. People stood in aisles packed in.

Nice idea but would need double the trains or carriages on commuter lines

It's been nice to see so many stars.

I took the kids out into the garden Sunday evening and we watched the ISS pass over, we then had a good look up and both my kids then bombarded Google with questions

I (and I’m sure I’m not the only one) am seriously reconsidering my priorities.

Do I really care enough about my current career to want to dedicate so much of my time and attention to it? Not really.

Got involved in a charitable project recently that made me so much more content than earning more money ever did.

Time to rethink my life.

A pay rise for NHS workers should be on the cards, as well as people realising that the Conservative party prioritises profits over people and only does the right thing when shamed into it.

Trainee up to £18-30k

Specialist up to £4075k

Consultant up to £75-100k

These are approx figures

The million is total pension pot which is used to by the annuity not what they receive.

Most of them work way more than contracted hours having meetings, clinics, ward rounds and multiple surgeries in the same day

Way worth every penny as are the cleaners that keep the bugs down, the caterers who have to provide meals for a couple of pounds per day per patient, the health care assistants, the nurses, the porters, apologies if I’ve missed anyone

A and E departments are quieter, as people with minor ailments rightly stop away.

Especially so on Friday and Saturday nights, when some A and Es are normally full of d*unks.

Average salary for a GP in the UK is £90,000, they deserve every penny they get ? Don’t you agree?

It's been good for the environment and, by and large, we've had a lot less right wing horseshit to put up with; because, unlike the banking crisis and the austerity after it, we really are all in this together.

Boris even admits there is such a thing as Society. That's a surprising "fuck you" to Maggie and all her devotees - but he's not wrong.

I think all that work in health and social care should be rewarded for the work they do , most carers are on minimum wage and still out there risking the own health for the sake of those they care for weeks ago they were called the unskilled workers. I’m enjoying the no traffic what would normally take me and hour and half to get to work on a typical day is taking me 35 mins. Community spirit is amazing on the whole anyhow. I’m missing the face to contact with those I support at the moment most of visits are via Skype or FaceTime just not the same x

As mentioned the obvious advantage is the reduction in greenhouse gas production. With life saving benefits from less pollution, and battling against climate change.

Also echo the sentiments about people thinking about how the government has treated the NHS for the last 10 years.

Less tangible benefits are people taking stock of their lives and people starting new creative projects.

If people could maybe remember to wash their hands after they have been to the toilet, it would be a start.

Sadly, history shows us we don't have very long memories and things will revert to "normal" very soon.

Before lockdown, in McDonald's having a pee, man comes out of cubicle after completing a musical number 2, can't be bothered washing his hands, saw him munching a big mac with his lovely unclean hands gripping on the the soon to be devoured burger.

Give up.

Believe it or not this virus ( according to environmental scientists) has actually saved more lives in China than it has killed .

Due to the drastic drop in air pollution in the country for two months , it is has been estimated that the cleaner air has saved approximately 70,000 more lives than the virus has killed .

Weird but there you go

Would be nice to see people being kinder to others!

The working day a bit shorter so people can exercise!

Working from home should be used more to reduce travel and pollution!

Keeping support for key workers maybe they pay less tax!

And of course no travel when another virus hits, people need proper quarantine regulations to stop a global infection!

Also an online app for those who get bored and are a bit fluffy to teach them how to cope with these situations!

Access requirements that have been asked for for years are magically granted for almost all.... but I doubt that would last.
