My school is working on a 12 week plan, which takes them through to mid June, which means school is back for 4 weeks, if they return thos school year. There is a real possibility scbool may not return until September.

Gfs kids been told August before they think about it, the dance academy I attend is locked down til same. I think they ll step it down slowly by opening some work places such as builders yards etc. See how that goes for a month..then ease back on people's freedom but I think gathering places such as pubs will be the last.they have to really to ensure all is safe..warm weather is a breeding ground or at the very least a place that viruses can sit. Can't afford to just go for it and hope for best. Way I see it is look toward end of July or August and if it comes earlier it's a bonus. Admittedly I'm allowed to work so it's not really affecting our household.

I love your optimism re schools. We looked at some emails my yr 11 son got from school yesterday. He's hoping to get into 6th form, his maths teacher sent out 23 sheets to work on to 'bridge the gap' between gcse and a level. Make of that what you will. I hope it's sooner but....

I work in a school (I'm there now), we have had NO guidance in the slightest from Department for Education (or anyone) we are just guessing like everyone else is.

The exit strategy is going to be a tricky one both physically and morally. The tension between these will be tough for some.

Assuming not vaccine, parents with family members who are for example type 1 diabetic will wonder if it really is safe and at what point do they risk their lives one to exposure.

There will be many who are keen to bolt when the stable doors are unlocked with the potential dire consequences of causing a second wave of this pandemic.

It depends on how successful we are in eradicating the disease. Once no one has it to infect anyone else, then there's no risk if rules are relaxed.

Mass testing is the answer. Germany is well ahead of us and we should be testing to the maximum, so that we have the intelligence that it provides.

What transitioning dies the school do that parents can't do?

We can make it terrifying by making it a bigger issue too.

It's always a big day, big week. It's how parents manage it for their kids.

School is far more than a classroom experience and there's a lot to learn outside it too.

Read recently an interesting thing about home schooling and that on average 3 hrs home schooling equates to a day in school as far as lesson material is concerned. What surprised me mostly was that this was a new finding to them.

Not every parent is in the best position to do it but then again as parents we all do the best we can with what we have

How does this equate say with Turkey? I'm not convinced that it's the sole reason. There are many factors, the % of elderly, % vulnerable and the health of the health-care system contributes massively to death toll. Testing will help to identify, but identification is only a step towards helping.

Latest comments about this after being analysed showed the average age of those tested is 47! Also the majority seem to be very fit people, skiers and others in very active sports. So there's a big question not only over what their tests are actually providing but also have they misused the available tests kits to provide optimistic data.

A break in isolation, ie could let us out end of May but I reckon with social restrictions still in place. However, if the numbers start to rise again we’ll be put back into lock down
