Beats 500,000. Hard to justify a lock down for 20,000. That's barely above normal flu fatalities.

When someone uses terms like house arrest I wonder if they have any possible idea of what such things mean in practice..

If "just" 20000 people dies is because of the restrictions. At the moment 500000 death it's still very likely. But who cares about facts?

What figures/source do have for normal flu fatalities?

He said that expected increases in National Health Service capacity and ongoing restrictions to people’s movements make him “reasonably confident” the health service can cope when the predicted peak of the epidemic arrives in two or three weeks

Funny how you abandoned the last idiotic thread you started once I'd challenged you on your soucres, and this time your source is a deleted tweet - you really are determined to make yourself look a bit daft aren;t you?

I thought it was on average around 1000 per year..but either way OP notice the fact that Is in a WHOLE years death rate... so 20000 in a matter of weeks would be very high number.. and even if you want to tell yourself it isn't and you are some how hard done by cos you can't go out then I'm sure you have come up with a way at keeping at this number and we all carry on with life? as it's only these measures being brought in that has lowered the predicted number of deaths so if we go out that will rise again..or have you got a higher number of people's nans grandad mums dad son and daughters that you think should be allowed to die so you can go on with your life as normal?

His higher prediction was if we did nothing.

You have yourself stated that “something” has been done.

Predictions will change when you alter the variables? So the outcome won’t be as predicted. Maybe ?

Thank you, maybe now people will stop trying to compare this with the flu. Now we all know the true numbers

They’ll still ignore and downplay the risks.

Right up until they or a loved one is affected of course at which point they’ll scream and shout for help

The revised lower figure is likely because of projected deaths due to the lockdown.

Well it clearly isn’t to some.

Let’s try again:

I have 10 apples that I leave outside and by morning the foxes have stolen 6 of them.

I leave those same apples inside and my dog eats 1 of them.

Where should I leave my apples?

Inside. After kicking the dog out to join the foxes

I don’t even own a dog. My cat is such a bruiser, no fox would dare getting close to his patch.

So why did I not use my cat in the analogy? He doesn’t like apples.

My rather laboured point being; even with the best predictions there are too many variables.
