"https://g.co/kgs/uDxLhH here’s a link. Within site rules. " That is not saying you can catch it from your cat. Its saying that cats can get a coronavirus..not new news... same as people have been suffering from forms of coronavirus for decades.. common cold etc .... It's silly misinformation like this that will lead to pets being thrown out on the streets or worse

"My cat does have a corona virus. We found out when a kitten we had died from FIP. But 60% of cats have corona virus and 95% of cats in multicat households. " I think we need to draw a distinction between a corona type virus (such as the common cold) and the corona virus (as in corona-SAR-2) which is the one that causes Corvid-19.

"Covid19 is one of many coronavirus. Cats and dogs cannot get covid19. " That's not completely true. There have been a number of cases reported from Hong Kong where pets have been discovered to have the antibodies for corona-SAR-2, which is the specific corona virus that causes Corvid-19 in humans. However it seems quite rare and, so far, no one is known to have caught Corvid-19 from a bet animal. That being said, it's probably a good idea to follow the washing hands protocol after spending time with your bet, especially if you've been outdoors with it as, even if it's not infected (and it's unlikely to be) it is still possible to pick up the virus from cross contamination (someone with Corvid-19 strokes their dog then walks it at the same time you are walking your dock, the dogs mingle, you go home and stroke your dog then scratch your face). It's probably also a good idea not to let your dog lick your face too.

" I think the main point is that, whether dogs, cats or other pets can actually be infected by corona-SAR-2 is irrelevant if you take the hygiene advice on washing your hands. Your far more likely to get corvid-19 from a contaminated surface (and all animals have a surface) than you are to be directly infected by a person or animal.

"There are lots of Corona viruses that affect animals and have never mutated to infect us and vice versa. To have jumped from bats to us and then to dogs in such a short time would be very unusual " Well that's true but it's not believed to have jumped directly from bats to humans. It's actually believed that it jumped from bats to another, as yet unidentified species, and then to humans. Which means it's already jumped twice in a very short time. I wouldn't rule out the possibility of it jumping again in a shorter time than would normally be expected. That being said there is currently no evidence that anyone has been infected directly from any pet animals and only very week and unreliable evidence that any pet animal has been infected at all.

"Virologist Steven van Gucht reported that the tests showed that the virus had passed from the cat's owner to the cat. Many different types of corona viruses exist, as people here state. The common cold is one that we've all had and different species have their own. As this is just one instance, it appears very unlikely to occur. " Funny, I've got 5 cats, not one of them showing any symptoms. I'm sure other cat owners will back me up on this.

If the virus did infect a different species it would not cause Covid-19. It might cause another disease with similar or totally different symptoms or it might not cause ant disease at all. Whilst that is fact the possibility of this infection spreading from pets to humans or humans to pets is unlikely.

It’s all about being the centre of attention. Two cats here are fine and healthy and said they are astonished that humans appear to be so dumb and ignorant despite all the information at their fingertips.

"I wonder how the bats spread it.. do you think it's in their droppings ? I have seen cockroaches on TV programmes feasting on bat droppings in bat caves.. I wonder if they pick it up then maybe spread it when they enter houses " It hasn't come directly from bats. None of the corona viruses bats have is corona-SAR-2. It is closely related to a particular corona virus that a particular species of bat is often infected with. However it's not closely enough related for it to be likely that it reached humans in one species jump from bats. It actually thought that there must be a third mammal species involved between the bat species and humans. So far that third species involved in the jump has not been identified.

Left where they were even if you was in the forest or cave you’d never have had it. It’s greed, stupidity and materialistic behaviour by humans - specifically in certain parts of the world that are responsible for both this one and previous ones before. This isn’t some vegan crap, they kill and treat these purely for silly reasons not because they a staple food source. Now we paying the price - and it won’t be the last one unless these countries change their ways - that said these countries equally killing the planet in many other ways also.
