Seen that text going round?

I know a lot of these are nonsense but basically says london to go into full lockdown followed by the rest of the country

Over 65s to be denied critical care.

If its remotely true it's very, very frightening.

Don't get texts like that, a lot of spam

However yes London will be in lockdown this weekend and all those over 65 will most probably have DNRs on them

You do realise patients have to sign dnars? If too ill only then can doctors make that suggestion.

They are being encouraged.

In the US they are being considered having a blanket DNR on all hospitals

What a vote winner for any government..

There is so much shite doing the rounds at the moment and whilst a full lockdown of London and indeed a much wider one may well be needed if the numbers keep rising in a couple of weeks the idea that a blanket dnr will be mandated on over 65s is patent scare mongering..

Stop getting sucked in and apply logic..

Dude. You are wasting your time I have had this conversation almost word for word.

This is a forum. Not the encyclopedia Britannica. Everything on here is an opinion. It doesn't need to be stated as fact.

The irony is that saying your opinion is stated as fact is in itself an opinion stated as fact.

Triage - (in medical use) the assignment of degrees of urgency to wounds or illnesses to decide the order of treatment of a large number of patients or casualties.

"In these extreme situations, any medical care given to people who will die anyway can be considered to be care withdrawn from others who might have survived (or perhaps suffered less severe disability from their injuries) had they been treated instead." - Wikipedia

"What a vote winner for any government..

Which has been proved by the link posted above.

Your saying there's a policy to dnr all citizens over a certain age?

And no one has put it out to the public?

I may be stand to be corrected but in Italy and Spain..from what I gather..in the most affected areas because they have been overrun..they have had to decide who to treat and who to leave.

Hang on let me find a link.

Not the same thing as a blanket dnr on over 65's. Can you stop spreading bullshit and dressing it up as fact?

Read my post and tell me where I said it was a "fact'

You said 'Hope you are right but it's happened in italy and spain'.

Not 'it might be happening'.

Ok I'll rephrase

In Spain and Italy right now if you are above a certain age you dont get treated as they are overrun. As pointed out above this Its called triage..that's what I meant.

"

No that is not triage, the issue you are saying might happen or might not is not the same as triage..

Doctors will have to decide who to help and who to leave if we don’t have enough respirators. I’ve not read anything any of this though.

Is that a fact or an opinion?

Because it's stated as a fact.

Or do you just know things when everyone else just guesses?

No country has no dnr for an age group yes they are making difficult decisions based on outcomes but that's very different. Please be careful what is being said these statements scare people unnecessarily.

It wasnt a government health warning

For about the millionth time in my very 1st post I said and hoped it wasnt true.

However there are genuine concerns out there and I wasnt aware there were not to even be discussed?

If people are getting their facts from a swingers forum rather than the plethora of media available in this day and age they have more things to be scared about.

This is where we express opinions. We are not publishing dissertations. As such telling people what opinions they may or may not have is effectively censorship.

So many bossy people around telling us what to think!

You are quite welcome to have an opinion..... as long as it's the same as theirs.

You are free to discuss things as long as you agree with them...

Quotes from writers reporting from the coalface mean nothing. They are pronounced bullshit without one shred of evidence to the contrary. Just because they say it's bullshit.

I know a lot of these are nonsense but basically says london to go into full lockdown followed by the rest of the country

Over 65s to be denied critical care.

If its remotely true it's very, very frightening."

You are allowed to discuss things.

This is my personal opinion only, we are living in very unusual times, people will be very frightened for themselves and those they love as the full effects of this begin to dawn on them. Discussing things that might not be true won't help anybody and might actual make some people feel worse. That's probably why people are asking you not to say things like this unless you are sure of your facts. You're not the only person doing it though

My mother actually has a dnar in place and that is a document not to be taken lightly. At this current time even less so.

Seriously people need to stop spreading unverified information. These are scary times and Fab should be a place to chill and chat about fun stuff.

Clinicians will undoubtedly have to make some very difficult decisions in the coming weeks when faced with 100s of very ill people. I don't think we're in a position to presume what those decisions might be

I am slightly annoyed at being called a "mystic meg", but there are more serious things happening for me to worry about. From other postings you've made i believe that your gripe purports to be about my use of the word "prediction" instead of "projection". Sorry that I've offended the word police when i was attempting to press the urgency that was needed to prevent unnecessary deaths!

However i would point out that my use of the word "prediction" was perfectly correct in this context. My training is in science and mathematics, we make predictions based upon physical and mathematical laws, there is nothing "mystic" about it and no crystal balls are required.

I would remind everybody that i was one of the early voices on here attempting to explain exponential growth patterns and the resulting effects. Quibble with the precise numbers if you wish to be petty, but it is now undeniable to all that (a) the numbers are rising, at a rate increasing every day, (b) the people saying "there's no need for it to change my behaviour" are wrong and dangerously so, (c) it's not the flu, it's not the same viral infection that was doing the rounds last December, (d) herd immunity is just another way of saying let millions die because it's inconvenient to quarantine (what would have been only a few thousand if it had been done weeks ago) people for a month.

Rant over.
