The policeman at the end of every street: get real.

Situation will be different depending upon where you live. If you live in a tower block in a city centre it will be different to those of us that are lucky enough to have access to some countryside. I live in an urban area between Bolton and Wigan...miles of footpaths to explore, easy to be away from roads and people.

Yes, you can certainly find some supreme examples of where common sense is lacking but in my 72 years experience it can be found quite commonly, some are more endowed with it than others: bit like tits really!!

If I might say, that shows a lack of common sense. Take as long as you need. Different people move at different speeds. Do what RIGHT for you.....

Common sense...

Just do it. If it's just you, there should be no problem. Exercise is good for your health and good for your immune system. Rationally speaking, it makes more sense to go out and exercise alone than to sit inside all day stuffing your face.

Michael Gove said the exercise time should be your ‘standard length’ of time.

I’d suggest NHS recommendations would be a good example of at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity a week or 75 minutes of vigorous intensity activity a week.

If you run further or cycle further do what makes sense to you. Do you really want to me miles from home in case you or anyone falls sick

I'm going out tonight when it's dark for a brisk 45 minute walk. Think that's sensible enough as assume most will be out during daylight.

Gutted I live in a ground floor apartment with no personal outside space so those who have gardens, yards etc should feel very fortunate at this moment in time!

There is no way to enforce that, it’s about using common sense, if you live in a built up area you shouldn’t be out for more than that due to the amount of people you are likely to come into contact with however if you don’t live in a built up area and rarely coMe in to contact with anyone then you could probably be out longer.

However, it’s safer for everyone if you don’t and there is plenty of exercise you can do at home anyway

Older Hot Bearded Guy

What’s exacerbating this is, the turn of the seasons and the weather coincidentally getting better. Psychologically, because the sun is getting stronger each day and the days are getting longer, your natural instinct is, you want to get outside. Evolutionary behaviour.

If it was October/November now, instead of March/April this wouldn’t be as bad, as your natural inclination is to hibernate as the days are getting shorter and darker. You’d be thinking, right Winter’s a write-off, let’s get through the next 6 months, get to March/April and we’ve got the best 6 months of the year to come.

It’s really shit.

Apparently in Taiwan ( I hasten to add this is people returning from abroad at the moment) they are able to tell if you leave your home by tracking your mobile phone, whether you have given them permission or not. Hard to imagine tracking 65 million people but makes you think doesn't it. Just needs some AI and off the rabbit runs.

I think it's probably advisable not to sit on park benches as it's coming into contact with a surface where multiple others might do the same, hence potential spread of the virus. Not having a go just think that's probably why people may have given you funny looks.

I cannot understand why people are having so many issues with this. Stay in your houses unless it's for food, medicine or one form of exercise each day. You are not to have close contact with anyone that does not live in your household, that includes family members.

The longer people ignore this, the longer it will go on. Please people, think carefully about whether you actually NEED that extra 10 minutes outside.

It comes down to being part of the problem or the solution, I'm going to make sure I'm part of the solution.

Anyone else watching the ITV News? Group of people using am outside gym in London and the guy being interviewed was asked if he thought it was a sensible thing to do to which he replied 'well I'm not ill am I?". Ignorant prick.

Throw in the clips of packed trams, construction sites teeming with workers sat together in canteens. Beggars belief.

Why the fuck is the build of a nuclear power station classified as coming under the "key worker" banner?

Firstly because most of those workers are self employed and hence aren't included in the govts magical 80% wage relief. They really have no choice other than to take the risk and work.

Secondly it's the developers responsibility to provide facilities which allow for social distancing to be adequately practiced.

Thirdly the build of a new nuclear plant will benefit society greatly in the long run.

Finally, regarding exercise; just do what you usually do and do enough to remain fit, strong and healthy. Practice social distancing, use common sense and you'll be on the right side of the law.

How are they controlling my thoughts? The way to stop the virus is to minimise contact via self-isolation or distancing. None of what I've stated above is following either piece of advice.

Tell you what. Let's just all go back to work, touch each other as much as possible and see how the virus spreads and how many people we can kill. That'll be fun eh?

1) I'm self-employed and having to make do for the good of the population. If it's a choice of not getting paid for a while or spreading a virus then I'll eat beans in toast for the foreseeable future. Also I believe someone said that Martin Lewis has announced something about SE workers getting paid?

2) So all those guys sat together couldn't manage social distancing on a site that looks about the size of probably 100 football pitches rather than being sat next to each other in a canteen?

3) The people in the parks using the outside gym said they'd driven around and seen all the other outside gyms closed and found that one so thought they'd use it. Yes the council should have taped them all off but it's common sense FFS. I'm heading out for a walk later when there will be no-one out. Are people's biceps/six-packs etc more important than saving lives? Maybe they need to keep buff for all the Tinder meets they've got arranged for next weekend...

Been said on tv the virus can survive for up to 3 days on hard surfaces.

The idiots in the open air gym were using pull up bars, weights etc that could have the virus on them.

Park benches etc.. Plus the garage door handles i touched at a petrol station are possible sources.

Washed my hands and rubbed steering wheel gearstick, indicator stick handles etc when got home. And my hands

If your daughter doesn't live with you which as you say you met her outside is probably the case then you have totally broken 1 of the important rules!

(if your daughter lives with you then I apologize)

You are not to met up with Any Friends or Family unless they live in the same household as you. There's very good scientific data as to why this rule needs to be followed.

I find it bewildering the amount of people either acting stupid regarding the very clear rules or worse just don't feel they have to follow them.

How many NHS workers who are been worked into the ground in the hospitals fighting on the front lines to saves lives then feel they need to post videos of themselves in tears begging people to just sit at home and follow the rules to give them and the NHS a fighting chance!

There are key workers been stretched to the limit / breaking point they don't want your thanks, applause, gratitude. They want your support by following All the government guidelines which are designed to stop the NHS collapsing under the strain.

Unfortunately some people just don't have the option to "make do" when they have families to support, kids to raise and bills to pay without being in the position of having savings to fall back on. Universal Credit just wouldn't stretch far enough.

I do think that construction bosses should do more, stagger breaks and provide bigger canteens/welfare facilities etc.

I'm not up to speed with Martin Lewis but I do think the ambiguity over construction is that Govt have just realised how ruiniously expensive it would be to shut down and compensate self employed people.

You're right people SHOULD be able to judge. Unfortunately too many are thick as pigshit so they can't be trusted. I'm all for giving people choice if they don't abuse it. Having seen how people have acted the past week (mass barbecue in Coventry, flocking to seaside/countryside and panic buying etc) I imagine total lockdown will be enforced before long.

Do you all think they all got together and planned visiting the countryside?

What if rebel went to a field and all of a sudden every mother and her kids went to the same field

I told my kids before we left if it was busy we would go straight home.

Again, people should be able to judge a situation.

If my 9 and 6 year old are understanding what is happening I dont know why adults are struggling.

What happens on a nice day in normal times? Everyone fucks off to the beach/country/local beauty spot. Why would anyone think "you know what? I fancy enjoying some sun and I'll be the only person going to Scarborough/Matlock so it'll be alright"

Sorry but it's just dumb.

Proven when there are photos of dozens of people in queues for a chippy tea or standing around their motorbikes chatting. If you made an error of judgment and arrived somewhere that was packed, anyone with half a brain would turn around and go home but no the "great" British public just carry on regardless.

FFS people were just swinging just 4 days ago. Clubs didn't want to close, but advice from gov ordered them to

Now all of a sudden people are quarantine Shaming

Not saying you have, but I'll tell you something.

If clubs and pubs weren't ordered to close they would be open still and people in them

I was going to reply in private but you don't accept messages from guys so I'm leaving it there. I've had my say and we're blatantly not going to agree so no need to further the conversation.

glasgow

This is quite normal to us....solitary creatures really.

We have an enclosed garden thankfully & I picked up a trampoline for free just before lockdown.

We're currently cleaning & revamping it, then I've got 2 cars needing attention....fixed my handbag today and lots of homeschooling going on.

It's time for the hobby folk.
