Boris Johnson watched this virus ravage China, Iran and Italy - he had weeks to learn lessons from mistakes made elsewhere to save the lives of Britons and he didn’t until today persisting with a flawed herd immunity plan that flew in the face of all conventional wisdom.

Once this is over he should stand trial.

Following the advice of his scientific advisors. Science changes and the PM has adapted with it. Im an athiest but thank god that clown corbyn is nowhere near this.

I’m glad he did because there seems to be half of the country following his instructions and half just taking the piss.

Boris had to strike a balance there.

Just stay at home for three weeks. Abide by the rule that are set. Stop the spread. It’s not that hard we can do it.

"hammer dropped!!!! wow, i didn't think he would actually do it! "

I thought he would, he tried to give people the opportunity to do the right thing and they couldn't so he has done the only thing he possibly could. It's something no Prime Minister would want to have to do.

I hope people stop acting like petulant children now and follow the instructions.

All advice had been coming from the government.

The lockdown was coming anyway, whether there were petulant children or not!

Obey just like the Chinese

He asked people to stay inside and they wouldn't so he had to take drastic steps. The petulant children I was referring to were the people going out and doing whatever they wanted to, just because they were told they shouldn't.

These fines will just be seen as a source of revenue, just as are speeding tickets.... Folk are already in financial difficulty, lets impose a fine. Who dreams this stuff up....??
