I heard on the news people are still going out to parks and beaches as a family.

I dont get it....isnt it obvious we need to stay indoors if we can?

No most people just need to avoid crowds and using systems like the London Underground and busy restaurants with lots of shared hard surfaces - and we need to isolate at risk people. Most people just need to build immunity

That's not what has been advised and it actually can be detrimental to people's health.

You can go out as a family and make the most of the outdoors, just avoid mixing with other people that don't live in your household. Getting out for exercise is encouraged.

Immunity.. That's not how the immune system works.

It general means people who aren't members of your family locking yourself indoors is a bad idea just socially distance yourself from colleagues and friends, and for your family they will need you and you need them, you know saying you can pick your friends and not your family this is why, I love my family, and my friends but they won't go out there way to see if you are okay, get out pal go see your family hug them and cherish them. If you have no family I give you my details and I adopt you

There will be people out there all alone and I hope everyone notice this and go out there way to make them feel apart.

Come on guys and girls, let's show this virus that they can take health but not the human spirit don't be like virus, it shows no compassion it slowly takes those close to you, be human it has took us along time to get to where we are today, thousands of years let's not turn back to what we where I feel that we are going to change forever as a civilisation.

If it is a family gathering surely there not been selfish, when the warm weather comes people be in there gardens, the main principle is wash your hands, avoid groups of people, it okay saying where in for a shock but what about the younger ones 16 - 21 year olds.

Yesterday, Skegness was as busy as a summer Bank Holiday.

The local police are now calling for the caravan parks, amusement arcades etc to be closed immediately.

I also saw that some Tourist Boards, such as Cornwall and the Highlands are telling people to stay away. Thats aimed at the people with holiday homes and motor homes.

I've just read a story of a family gathering that has left the elderly mother and two of her children in their fifties dead and four more if the siblings with the virus, one in intensive care. Just because you're related to people doesn't mean you're immune to their illnesses. The only people you should have close contact with are the ones you live with, and only then because it can't be helped.

The virus is not in a fresh air. Everyone needs fresh air. We have kids and we will continue going out to parks and beaches. It doesn't mean we'll be interacting with other people.

If you stay indoors for the next amount of x months / weeks - you'll suffocate in your own fart.

Same situation here in Cornwall we have thousands of holidaymakers all the holiday homes rammed supermarkets empty of food as are the petrol stations out of fuel and we had 4 deaths yesterday from covid19

Currently I have no problem taking my kiddo out for a walk in the woods... We keep ourselves to ourselves... And wash hands ASAP and avoid touch faces.

Currently we are not in complete quarrintine.

Unfortunately if people keep abusing the isolation and social distancing rules I feel we may well be brought into stricter quarrintine which will be very trying on many people especially those with existing mental health issues.

We have alot of tourists passing through... Not very Considerate and a terrible way of spreading the virus further around the country...

Exactly this. Wish people would actually watch the daily news conferences.

Dont have your mates round for a party. Don't arrange to meet all your kids classmates and parents at the park for a massive football game.

You can let your only child meet a buddy at the park and go for a bike ride, but don't let them go all WWE. Don't stop for a chat with people out and about.

Going for a day out with members of your immediate household is no different to staying in with them, just don't go to grandma's and don't meet or chat with other people.

People, like me, who live alone, will need to go out for a walk to stop going crazy. I just won't hi five people as I walk past.

It’s very sad to see how many people in our society are selfish It’s perhaps little wonder though, as we are hardwired through evolution to protect ourselves even if it is not in everyone else’s best interests. However when people regard it as “a bit of a holiday” that’s even worse.

It’s not confined to the UK. People are packing beaches in: Australia, The US and Malaysia too.

I’m the other end of the country and have seen caravan traffic normally at the volume of summer time. I do hope they realise that sitting in an aluminium box in Scotland in March is a little bit less pleasant than it is in July!

Noone other than those in the vnerable categories have been told not to leave the house

The chief medical officer has said people can go outdoors for walks and exercise etc as long as they maintain the recommended social distance from people they don't live with.

Obviously if it makes people feel better to call other people cunts, stupid etc for doing this then all the best to them

Well said, I don't understand people continuing to want to organise meets during this public health crisis. Putting your own personal needs above the current advice for reducing the spread of a highly contagious disease is totally unforgivable.

Some of the people I've had on my hotlist have been removed, their current behaviour is a useful warning indicator as to what type of people they are.

Staying home really is a small price to pay if it means halting this horrible virus . After all it's your home and you have probably spent years and thousands of pounds to get it the way you like it. If it was your choice to stay there for a prolonged period of time and not venture out it wouldn't be a problem , you could do it easily . The fact that you have been told that you MUST stay there makes it all so difficult . Probably the most stinking of places to go all handling the same trolleys, baskets, goods, shelves, conveyerbelts etc and no sign of anything provided to allow people to wipe them down before/after use. I'd say you're highly more likely to catch something in Tesco then for going for a walk in a local park/forestry. I understand people have to shop but no measures at all seem to be being taken to reduce the transmission risk in supermarkets

Everyone is right is saying that the advice from the CMO is OK to go out for some fresh air and walk the dog etc. However I think in giving this advice he didn't realize that thousands of family's would drive 100's of miles for said fresh air. This is due to whole family's being forced together for a weekend without sport/shopping as being their main distraction. People are already saying they are bored and it's only 2 days into possible 100 days. We are going to have to get use to our own company very very soon.

I think a lot has to do with people looking at there individual situation. I live in a very rural part of the country I walk my dog every day and very rarely see a single person so there is no point me staying indoors. But a lot of people live in more built up areas and are traveling to areas like mine bringing the virus with them

Wrong info .

The virus is airborne . It is infact advised to stay indoors as much as you can. Going out will increase the risk more especially around public places etc. A total lockdown is imminent if people don't stay indoors .

Going out in isolation to others even as a family to isolated areas with hardly any people around if any (family who are all together anyway at home) isn’t going to cause massive problems as long as surfaces aren’t touched, hands cleaned with soap and water, shoes taken off before entering house the bottom can pick up things just like any other surface. And it should be safe. They groups of teenagers I see all over at night are not safe and it won’t be long before aome take matters into their own hands. If you have teenager keep them in!!

Maybe people places like London were trying to get away from the crowds and the full supermarkets just the hundreds of people who live right in top of one another...but sadly these people haven't got a crystal balls and didn't realise so many people was going to do the same thing..getting out of London if you have a caravan or motor home would be a form of social distancing if everyone hadn't decided to head to the same places

Seriously? Being bored is not a valid reason to go out and put yourself and others at risk. The schools being closed and people told to work from home does not mean its an extended holiday and trips to the beach are acceptable.

Social distancing only works of people actually follow the advice and don't go out unless necessary & when they do avoid contact with others.

Being bored and inconvenienced for a while is a very small price to pay if it helps to flatten the curve, slows the spread of infection and saves lives.

Wrong info .

Actually, it has been said multiple times that going out for a walk with members of your own household but keeping 2m between yourself and anyone else is perfectly OK.

That might change with all this mass gathering on beaches etc, but members of the same household are fine going out together for a walk, as long as they keep away from other people.

Problem is so much misinformation and panic. Can’t even say to check sources when the US president is one of them spreading it!

Going out and walking /exercising is fine. They’ve only this weekend banned any outdoor activity in Lombardy one of the worst affected.

As long as you keep more than 6ft away it’s fine and even then it’s not waiting to jump on anyone who passes within 6’.

Go out, remain fit active and healthy and keep washing hands etc.

It’s been really nice in the parks this weekend but I’d say to avoid the busy places. There’s plenty of smaller parks around. Being cooped up isn’t good for you physical or mental health

because the advice hasnt been to stay in.. it's been to social distance. Mental health is just as important and I think issues will claim far more victim's than the virus.

The kids and I went for a walk around our local country park with the dog. ( house backs on to it) we kept away from others and washed our hands when we got back. X

Me and my gf will be going to work tomorrow. I can't work from home. Some of the office staff are coming back in because they are 'bored'. I really wish I didn't have to go in,I feel we a y unneeded contact is gonna spread this thing. I won't get paid though of I don't go in. We can only be a few days away from a total lockdown surely??

Everyone thinks it’s the old a vulnerable who die and while that may be true younger and healthier people while they survive they still need intensive care. And we know there are no beds left. So eventually young and healthy people will start dying.

Going for a walk with my daughter is not the same as going to a crowded beach or park. We are unlikely to see anyone and if we did we would avoid them by crossing the road or taking a different route.

I think the people going to crowded beaches and parks are selfish and will cause a complete lock down, those people going for a walk and avoiding social contact will not.

Yes this is my thoughts. I’m not against people going out at all! I went out today (on my motorbike with a full face lid) we were gonna go for a walk along the coast but it was chocka.

I know everyone’s probably having the same idea at the same time, so we’re going to hold back until after dark when it’s much quieter to get some air/exercise.

Its about being sensible. There are extremes on either side of this discussion. (bit like brexit).

It does not say don't go out. Indeed you should still take walks for exersize.

A walk in a field or woodland or on the beach is not going to spread infection.

If it is crowded then equally don't stop and move on.

My youngest daughter has her birthday in a couple off weeks. The marque, bouncy castle and party has already been cancelled, even though it was going to be in the garden. She is heart broken.

So I went out to buy a few presents today because I am not letting her down on that front as well.

other countries are letting 5 at a time in and people queueing outside are keeping the distance from each other. Why we cant do the same is beyond me

If you get the virus 99.8 % of people will survive it is only the very old and those in the vulnerable group that will have problems, STOP looking at cases and look numbers in intensive care and number of deaths, we can not stop everything and the virus will get to you anyway NOTHING can stop it , all the lockdown is doing is slowing down the spread nothing more. We need to be very careful in giving away are hard fought for freedoms

"If you get the virus 99.8 % of people will survive it is only the very old and those in the vulnerable group that will have problems, STOP looking at cases and look numbers in intensive care and number of deaths, we can not stop everything and the virus will get to you anyway NOTHING can stop it , all the lockdown is doing is slowing down the spread nothing more. We need to be very careful in giving away are hard fought for freedoms "

Covid cases in ITU are back into double figures and they are nearly full. Not all ITU cases are old or have underlying health problems.

The number of cases where people are left with long term health problems through Covid is on the rise too. So they are surviving but are left with life limiting conditions.

This post is 27 weeks old, so I was reluctant to comment but just wanted to give you a couple of facts from a front line worker

We can't tell who is vulnerable to permanent health impairment from this virus.

If you ditch all restrictions, the virus will devastate the country, overloading the health service for all. You have temporary restrictions on some freedoms but we can manage. There is no magical barrier between the people you think are vulnerable and the rest of us - the virus will pass amongst everyone
