When you’ve caught it and recovered...

Difficult to know for sure if you’ve had C19 due to the lack of testing in all but very serious cases.

But assuming:

1) you have all the symptoms and recover 2 weeks down the line after solid self isolating

2) reinfection is unlikely and immunity decent

My Saturday morning questions are:

A) What are you going to do to give back and help wider society now you’re better (you’re a super important and valuable person if and when things get tougher for the wider population over the next few weeks)

B) What naughty fuckery are you going to get up to on or off fab

So I’m confused....

If you do have the virus and then recover, would it still not be in the best interest of all to still stay distant??

Until it’s ok to get out of self isolation??

Depends how long you’re contagious for. The government guidance of 2 weeks self isolation for families in theory allows all members of a family to get it, pass it around and recover.

With most viruses in this sort of family, after you catch it and recover you can’t spread it to others and you build immunity so can’t catch it again. The government are focussing a lot on testing at the moment to see if you’ve got it but are also looking at how to test for (and understand) immunity when you’ve had it.

Yes, even if you had had the virus and recovered it would be best to observe whatever the current advice is about self-distancing. This is because next to nothing is known about whether you would have any immunity or if you might catch it again. This won't be known for sure for a long time yet. Also, regardless of immunity, you can of course still pick up the virus on your skin surface (eg hands) and pass it onto others.
