Day 4 for me. Very real.

So my GP put me on lockdown Tuesday as he was certain I have coronavirus. I wanted to share my experience so far.

Yesterday I ended up in AandE as I was struggling to breath and talk. I had some oxygen and some iv medication to help and I’m now home. Although I was given no swab (as the government are only allowing people in ICU to be swabbed) I had lots of other teats done yesterday.

Symptoms so far have been sweats like nothing I have ever experienced. Very high temperature. Coughing, coughing and more coughing. Very hard to breath and do more that one thing. For example, I can’t talk and walk at same time!

I’m in bed now and breathing is better today. Not sure if that is oxygen yesterday or that as days go on it will be easier.

Coronavirus is very real. I’m happy to answer any questions about my experience.

How did you get to see your gp when most surgeries are asking people to stay away & self isolate ?

So are hospitals !

GP was a Skype video call and I ended up in hospital as had to call 111 as got progressively worse and that was GPs advice. They decided I was bad enough to go into hospital as an emergency. I suppose not being able to breath properly is quite an emergency! I was quarantined in hospital but trust me there were many more. I do not believe the figures we are being told.

Just the fact that they aren't testing anyone but the very ill tells you that we can't possibly know the real amount of people who have it. They're just extrapolating the figures from the known cases. I find that lack of accurate information terrifying.

My local area has Facebook groups set up to help people who are isolated get supplies etc. Yours should do I'd think.

Take care of yourself xx

It’s shocking. Government are definitely not being honest. Yes I’ve had lots of support but unfortunately not a lot anyone can do to help. Just got to ride it out. I’m hopeful I’m over the worst. I would not wish this on anyone. Not as easy as people are saying if you are young and healthy. It’s horrible.

I'm at home with what I hope is tonsillitis doctor wont see me and has put us on hone isolation. The longer it goes on I'm not so sure. I've never coughed so much in my life. I ache all over because of it. Might be true that you get different levels of it.

Or I'm just freaking.

If you are coughing lots (no mucus) and have a high temp I’d say pretty likely.

Tonsillitis doesn't come with a cough, it's just inflamed and very sore tonsils, which you should be able to see in a mirror. Sounds more likely you have flu of some kind, hopefully not Covid 19. Take care xx

It is crazy. One of the Drs was so annoyed that he could not just swab me, they did blood test, x-ray and ECG which I imagine cost more. But he said unfortunately currently they are not allowed unless in ICU.

You're confusing me now on here you say you wernt tested so you dont know you have it but in your status update your saying you do have it

My status is to update and reassure people in short as I have had a lot of messages. But your telling people you have the virus when you havent been tested for it which is mileading especially when your saying here you wernt tested so have you have no idea if you have it or not !

Ok. I appreciate your comments. I believe I have the virus as I have been told by experts I have. If you feel that is misleading then that is your belief. I’m not here to argue but to share my experience to help other people. "

Im not here to argue either!

I just dont believe health experts as you call them would tell you you have this virus without testing for it 1st!

I wish you well and hope you recover from whatever it is you do have and hope your isolation isnt too bad

"So my GP put me on lockdown Tuesday as he was certain I have coronavirus.

You're confusing me now on here you say you wernt tested so you dont know you have it but in your status update your saying you do have it

Doctors often make clinical diagnoses without pathological diagnoses (that is by symptoms and signs without all necessary tests).

The Drs defo would say you have it without testing you. I had pneumonia but because I wasnt xrayed she wrote it on record as Lower Respiratory tract. Hence covering her own arse and saving the NHS money.

PS it’s true they only test those in ICU - you can look up this guidance from government if you don’t trust the OP

I would say three doctors’ opinions is enough for me over the skepticism of some randomer on the fab forum....

You say you live with your young daughter; are you able to look after her at the moment or is she isolated away from you?

Had you been abroad or did you get it in the UK?

Are you just taking paracetamol right now? anything else at all?

This is quite possible. They've sequenced the virus and can accurately state that it made the jump to humans in the 3rd week of November 2019

I had steroids in hospital but none for at home. I think they are what has made it easier for me.

I think I caught it from a student. I work in a large college with lots of students from across the world. A member of the same team went down with it 5 days before me.

"If someone is in hospital with bad cough, shortness of breath, oxygen and IV medicine - isn't this enough to get tested? I'm amazed..

It is crazy. One of the Drs was so annoyed that he could not just swab me, they did blood test, x-ray and ECG which I imagine cost more. But he said unfortunately currently they are not allowed unless in ICU. "

This is where the problem lies. My suspicion is they won’t test people because then when they recover the figures will not look as bad.

I realise this doesn’t help you Kitty so all I can do is wish you better and a speedy recovery.

And send Furry Hugs. They’re medicinal don’t you know x

"I'm at home with what I hope is tonsillitis doctor wont see me and has put us on hone isolation. The longer it goes on I'm not so sure. I've never coughed so much in my life. I ache all over because of it. Might be true that you get different levels of it.

Or I'm just freaking.

If you are coughing lots (no mucus) and have a high temp I’d say pretty likely.

Does it come in waves. Like one minute I've just got a cough next minute I'm exhausted and hot (and not in a good way)

That very much so was for you!! "

I'm isolated for two weeks anyway so it really wont matter unless I get alot worse.

My luck is once it's over the country will be in lock down and I will still be stuck inside.

But there is alot of worse off people so I'm just gonna get better then enjoy it as much as I can.

I hope you get better soon x

A lot of people are thinking this too, lots of people had the worst flu and constant coughs ever, took them ages to get over it. Of course no one back around at the start of the year was testi g or even looking for it, just something you seen on the news about another virus in a far flung country. I think the only way will be when they get the antibody test ready to check if you have already had it, same goes with those that have little to no symptoms. They are the most at risk of spreading it without even really knowing they have it.

Fingers crossed for everyone

OP hope you feel better soon.. x and no they arent testing people x even those in hospital..just those in icu. "
