Not to cause panic

So just witnessed 16 army trucks appear in my area, where there's no history of military movements etc nearby.

Spoken to a few people around the village and apparently we've been told to expect a makeshift morgue to be build here (some kind if large tent structure) and the trucks are to transport the dead.

Welcome to World War Z

There's talk in Wales of mass burials if the death toll gets too high. If people are going to be dying in enough numbers then they have to do something with the bodies when they start appearing in large numbers

The army aren't doing anything like that, my regiment has been stood down and all training stopped for now. If we get involved in anything it'll supply chain. At a push helping the police with public order if people can't behave themselves with all the selfish panic buying.

If they do get the army out it will probably be a good thing? People have lost the plot and don’t know how to behave. Fighting over food etc when these is enough to go around. Our local store has police in because customers have assaulted staff after not adhering to the restrictions (2pk toilet paper per person etc).

I think they should step in and up the security in hospitals. I have coronavirus and was in hospital yesterday as struggling to breath, I had to go in through AandE and I was verbally attacked by a woman who threatened “to drag me out by my hair” as I was spreading “my disease” bearing in mind I was on oxygen at the time and very emotional. The hospital staff were great but they have enough to deal with. I’m obviously home and breathing is better.

I have it from a reliable and well informed source - quite a high up consultant , that we’re going to see some big jumps in numbers over the next few days. I still don’t think the elderly are taking this seriously. 100 percent of the over 70s admitted with covid19 are not coming back out again. Please stay well away from your parents or grandparents. Drop shopping at the door.

Yeah it was horrible, it’s very tough at moment anyway feel very alone and extremely poorly. Yet verbally attacked by this woman, who had her teenage son with her. I felt intimidated (I’m a big girl so this takes a lot!) but I think she was scared for her safety. But so uncalled for. It has really effected me.

Why is it scaremongering. Seeing 3 members of staff in tears in tescos today and hearing the abuse they are getting I hope they do send army/police down there to keep control. It’s disgusting and needs sorting.

It's not scaremongering when it's assumed that those reading my comment are grown adults who know that zombies aren't really a thing.

Don't you recognise a tongue in comment when you see one? Talk about triggered snowflakes

For a bunch of hardened stingers, you're sure all hypersensitive to people sharing their own personal views within a forum.

Calm down dear.

"Yeah me to in Peterborough area loads and loads of army lorries..whats that bout???"

Having served in the armed forces may I suggest this. Remember the firemen’s strike? The army used Green Goddess fire engines. Why not use the proper red fire engines? Simples, because hgv drivers ( especially young squaddies) can’t just get into modern fire engines or big techno 44 tonne trucks. What they CAN do is drive and operate their own kit. The green army trucks that you are seeing the ones that they train in and use daily. So whilst you may think we will be over run by armed forces, what you may be seeing is the likes of the Royal Logistics Corps exercising themselves in readiness to support the movement of goods. Another point worth mentioning is that due to defence cuts many many military vehicles are kept in storage, and never used except for situations like this so people are afraid to see them out and about. And as for tanks, if I see a Challenger 2 on the streets because of this then it’s all been a bad dream lol.

It's probably for the purposes you say.

Here's a youtube video of a whole fleet of Italian army trucks taking dead bodies out of hospitals. So the UK has to prepare. It is inevitable. This is very real.

Hate to tell you this but the company that have the contract to build temporary mortuaries (last seen 7/7 in london) are not the military.

And every local authority has mass fatality protocols in place that include a site that could facility extensive body storage and temporary mortuaries.

So yeah, I dobt think you need to worry too much

The worse case scenario is that they would be cremated with no family service to speed the process up. The logistical problem of italy levels of mortality would be around body storage not funerals
