Where do we stand with our money?

So the person I look after has had to self isolate for the 12 weeks as advised, she’s in talks with the council who pay a percentage and she makes up the rest as to whether I’m still to be paid as I’m not going there. Her husband is off work now. I only do 10 hours a week for her but that pay goes in on the 1st and does all my direct debits.

Prison money goes in towards the end of the month and at the moment I can still go there.

But like where do we stand if we essentially can’t go to work for god knows how long? I rent as well and as far as I’m aware they’re not giving us payment holidays.

I don’t have much in savings and I’ve been trying for two years to save for new boobs but keep having to dip into it. Have Xmas savings but I can’t have access to them till November.

Then we have people like my mother who works in a motel/restaurant but they have to stay open as they haven’t been officially told to close so they can’t claim anything on insurance but the government is telling people not to go to pubs and restaurants. They’re having to lay people off temporarily and telling people they’ll have to claim ssp.

The only good thing about this is that people are all gonna be fucked together but it’s still worrying.

There must be quite a few in similar position as you Annie, multiple low hour jobs and renting, must be a worry.

On the plus side, I would say use the money from you boob fund, the ones you have are pretty damned good

Serves me right for not going full time in my other job, I’ve been with this woman for 5 years though and I love her so couldn’t leave her!

It depends what your Council’s Social Services say.

Our Council has said that if folk self isolate themselves out of concern then carers are still to get paid for the hours they would of worked, because it’s not the carers fault the folk they are looking after has self isolated.

But this is a different Council. Fingers crossed for you lovely x

Despite all the bravado you’re just a soppy git aren’t you.

I know several people who are care workers and they all say it’s easy to get attached to their clients. I guess that type of work often attracts compassionate people.

We have absoloutely no idea. Hiw do people pay bills with zero income coming in?

How are the self employed going to manage?

It's a huge worry.

I can’t understand why people renting should have to worry. If their landlord has to pay a mortgage on that property then they’ll be able to get a break, that should be passed on to the renter. If no mortgage then there’s no real issue to press for rent.

Local garden center with a large kids soft play built on to it has just made a load of staff redundant as he’s closed. Rubbish for those paid off as the guy is absolutely minted !
