I could have drawn up a list. I would have been spot on - listing the first to text in that they have a high temperature. While I have every sympathy with those affected and I’m as concerned as anyone, I just knew.

Same at your place?

Some yes, we had colleagues refuse to do jobs yesterday and go home! However I also have a colleague with a child with leukaemia who has been working and only stopped today as the hospital texted to tell him he should.

I was the first, and so far the only 1 i believe, I work in a vital industry regarding the virus, I havent taken a single sick day in the last 5 years so I'm pretty annoyed that I'm off now, I dismissed it as a smokers cough but my employer wouldnt let me work, and given how I feel now it's a good job they didn't.

Me too, my husband had a cold at the start of last week so I was coughing Wednesday and Thursday, so working from home and self isolated this week. I can't wait for it to be over!

I was the first BUT

I have underlying ongoing respiratory illness

I have symptoms

I was also ADVISED to self iso by 111

Yes people probably have spoken about me etc but my health and kids come first and I work in the education sector so

The mistake that has been made by the government is by not legislating isolation as compulsory with only going out in certain circumstances, like Spain.

My friend is ill, off work and home but her hubby still going to the office as usual!!

Yep same here , few weeks ago we made a list up of the people who would “ get it first “ and we were spot on , it’s the same people who get a bad back when the kids are on there school holidays , it’s a joke I hope they really get it , we are all having to work longer hours to cover the mad rush the last few weeks have been , one of them is stupid enough to put photos on face book out and about shopping enjoying a Costa coffee etc

Yes and they are the same people who claim they don't have sufficient Internet bandwidth to teach online classes too. This week has been fucking ridiculous and it's not going to get any easier.

Fella - No way would my company use my broadband, they don't pay for it.

Self isolating is un-paid, or your own leave here, unless you can work from home.

Apart from the fact I ain't a fella, that's how we will continue to provide education. Or we cease educating. There is no mechanism to get company paid broadband in every employee's home. No one has complained, in the circumstances, about using their broadband, but the usual suspects claim theirs is super slow etc. We have quickly rolled out laptops to everyone by repurposing the student ones and we are delivering them by courier to those "self isolating". They are also the people who missed my conference call earlier. Its not surprising.

Yep the same at my place, me and another colleague had our list as well.....

I've had a cold for a few months now nothing major just a plain old boring cold, no temperature or dry cough/sore throat but am I allowed time off for it or even taken a day off no...

And I can guarantee now schools are closed and I haven't got any kids at home to stay off for, that's it even more work for me to do, and I work in retail so got to put up with all the customers coughing all over me and abuse because they can't get there toilet rolls...

I'm gonna be live streaming Biology lessons from home with a 3yo in the background, if need be. I know the two in my team who immediately cut themselves off and announced they had no decent Internet have adult children who live elsewhere..... I will do my job, even if Peppa Pig is in the background

A little village

I have the opposite problem - I got sent home yesterday against my wishes because I have a sore throat and slight cough. Now I’m going to be bored out of my mind for 14 days. And I feel perfectly well and able to go to work.
