If the people who are bulk buying toilet rolls where asked why ,and they answered honestly, they would say it’s because other people are doing it, they actually wouldn’t know why. It’s irrational and shows a low IQ , unfortunately you can’t reason with stupidity.

Yesterday in Aldi, no toilet Roll, but loads of kitchen roll, don’t anymone tell them you could wipe your arse on kitchen roll, let it be our little secret.

Seen this, then two women almost fighting over some toilet paper

I did a bit of a stocktake in my kitchen cupboard, I have enough food for around 2 weeks eating twice a day. I’d like some more pasta, so will see if I can pick some up today, but not worried if I can’t get any.

There was no hand wash or dettol in Asda, home bargains, b&m or Tesco this morning. Not even own brand stuff. No toilet rolls.

It’s ridiculous. I genuinely have run out of dettol and needed a new bottle cos I use it in the bath!

I think most people do act and behave sensibly. But it just takes a handful of people to clear a shelf of handwash or toilet paper.

That then causes a knock on, when the sensible person goes in, and spots that there is actually some on the shelves, they are likely to buy a bit more than usual so they don't get caught out again...

and so it escalates.

Trouble is now the game has changed. Now if (by some miracle) people were to find a stash of toilet roll for sale they'd know exactly why they were going to buy a load. Because they've not seen it on the shelves for weeks and don't know how many weeks more (and trips to the supermarkets) until they'll see it again. Thus now most of the population have turned to panic buying in a dog eat dog world where everyone has to shit.

When I watched the news yesterday I could not believe the queues in cities at the supermarket.

Personally I’ve found using small independent shops much easier, they seem to have good supply chains.

Just got back from Sainsbury's and saw a man in there with a trolley brimmed full of hand sanitizers, baby wipes, soaps and all the things people need right now !!

Gave him a piece of my mind called him a selfish prick and told him there's desperate mum's and lonely old folk that need these products as well ! Told him he ought to be ashamed of himself

He said " that's all very well but I work here... now can I carry on filling the shelves please !"

Went to my local indipent store today. He had plenty of toilet roll (1 pack per customer). He's been getting a fresh delivery every day. He know a fair few of the faces in our community. He was complaining for years customers have been switching their trade to the supermarkets and not going to his shop (BTW his prices are always very cheap, it's a bargain type store). Then as soon as the supermarkets fail to provide watching them all come back to him. A fair few old faces all of a sudden coming flocking back to his shop. Some guy he'd not seen in the shop for over 10 years saying you remember me, sort me out with a little extra. He's had no problem with supply from the independent wholesaler he uses.

Here's what happened to me tonight. Went to get a pack of paracetamol. Just one pack I have a headache the shelf had one pack left on it. Standing in front of it was a woman who already had 3 packets her hand and she was reaching for that last packet. I intercepted her and said can I please have that last packet? You already have 3! I want 1 packet. She said yes sorry I didnt even think. After thanking her and taking it from her I gave her this piece of advice. Maybe you should start thinking we will all get through this alot easier if we stop being selfish and start looking after each other.

Panic buying is a natural response. It is an attempt to take control in what seems to be an out of control situation.

But how long will it be until our glorious supermarkets go back to being normal because those who have felt the need to stockpile have stockpilled as much as they think they'll need - or as much as their houses'll hold?

Will they be replaced by wave after wave of copycat panic buyers? Some probably being those who are being critical atm

I am up really early in the mornings. So I call into my local Spar every other morning around opening time 6. And I buy my milk bread and snacks for the next few days.

This morning there was a line of people standing outside.one person said she was heading to Tesco for 7 and Lidl for 8

Normally it's just me and a few staff members.

It's really hard not to panic buy because you see everyone one else doing it.

So this morning I brought a few extra tins of soup and pea's. Because I will use them up this week. But I normally just buy as I need. Not in case they not have any tomorrow.

I find it difficult to believe that everyone is not panic buying to a certain degree. If everyone buys a little bit more than usual then there will be a shortage, I think everyone is guilty of buying a couple of extra tins of beans.

Every basket I see in the supermarket has a 4 pack of toilet rolls in it which most people would not consider to be panic buying

Just been into Tescos.

Saw a guy whose trolley was full to the brim with hand sanitizers, baby wipes, soaps - practically everything that at-risk groups need most.

I called him a “selfish cunt” (Soweto, not sowwy) and gave him a lecture about the elderly and mums etc who need these types of things. Told him he should be ashamed of himself.

He said: “that’s all well and good, but I work here, can I carry on filling the shelves now?”

You'd think they would have security at the check outs to put a stop to these cunts. They should be made to take the excess items back.

"Let’s try an experiment. Take a photo of an empty shelf and post it on FuckwitBook with a comment about a shortage of Brussels Sprouts. See if we can force people to panic buy sprouts!

Or say that there is a chemical in sprouts that fights Coronavirus"

Wierdly, a thought sprang to mind the other day about sprouts they contain formaldehyde. It could be the simple cure.

My local Aldi has a large sign outside stating which items are restricted to a certain number, Inside was a woman with a trolley rammed full of restricted items, the cashier refused to put them through the till telling the woman about the restriction.

The woman then went off on one effing and blinding so the manager was called, before he got to the till another shopper shouted "Out", the rest of the shoppers joined in. The woman fled the store still effing and blinding but leaving all her shopping behind.

I’ll start worrying when Aldi restrict welding machines to 3 per customer.

"I am well stocked up... with everything.

It's called being a "Survivor"

So in 6 months don't come crawling to me with your emaciated boil covered bodies.

Scrofula, scurvy, TB, Dengue fever, typhoid, Yellow water fever....and papercuts.

"

It is not being called a survivor it is called being selfish and greedy.

A customer of Islamic appearence behind me with a young lad tried to con the checkout with 2 packs of t-rolls, the restriction was 1. He claimed the young lad was his nephew not a close family member and he was buying the other pack. He couldn't get his way and pushed the packs saying "fuck you, you can shove them up your arse"

The irony I thought

Haven’t read through the thread but I’ve not panic bought at all.... didn’t when people began... haven’t since.... still have, I think enough shite in cupboards and freezer for a week or so.... been to supermarket earlier and there’s still ‘food’ .... I am hoping though that at some point everyone will have their freezers full garage full and cupboards full so there’s something on shelves again or else I’ll look like a complete wanker as my family and I starve.

"Because people are causing panic on social media and feeding the cycle. "

I am waiting for someone local to brag about their hoard, then break in and rob them.

Fucking hell! The panic buying has hit here too now, as if the virus wasn't bad enough.

I reckon the media, and how it's sensationised isnt helping

There is no cure for stupid unfortunately. Advice is to avoid crowded places.. And here they all are.. In a crowded supermarket.

Not from what I'm seeing. Are you deliberately following every post I make just to disagree with me? Noticing a pattern here over the last couple of days?

I'm on 14day isolating, can't get out to shops due to feeling unwell. There's gonna be nothing left. Also how the fuck to people afford to go crazy and bulk buy. I'm capping myself thinking about my bills next month.
