So I try and test regularly and due to work and limited times the clinics are open I prefer testing at home. The issue is due to raynaurds, 99% of the time I can't do the finger prick test and then have to take time off work to get a blood test done.

Does anyone know of any other way I could do the blood one without doing a finger trick, to save the hassle of booking and taking time off work?

Thank you 😊

Manchester(ish).

Depends how bad your reynards is, I suffer too, but find getting my circulation going & having warm hands, I can get the test tube full enough for a test. Just takes time & a couple of fingers!

Maybe try from your earlobe instead? It won't matter where the blood comes from...

When you give blood they do the finger prick test first, but it always used to be from the ear. Just a thought...

Thank you both for your responses.

I usually make sure Im well hydrated and have had gloves on and holding a hot drink..but generally nothing and that's trying various fingers.

Im also a pain getting blood out of for a normal blood test apparently I have small veins 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

May have to try the ear lobe, hadn't heard of that before.

Fingers crossed. My next test is due to arrive in the next few days. Will update you on how the blood letting goes. 😊

I always find that having a hot shower / running my hands under hot water for a while makes it a lot easier.

Best at the end of day rather than on the morning and as other mentioned after hot shower or bath better

Another tip I got given before doing a hone thyroid test was to spin your arm around for a bit to help the blood accumulate in the fingers.

I asked a similar question recently. Many people said that hydration was important: drink a litre of water before you try and get your bloods. Hope that helps.

Somewhere in the South East

I put my hand in a bowl of warm water for 5 mins. I also find standing up helps.
