You've had a huge shock physically and emotionally. It'll make you question everything about your life, you said yourself it's scarred your soul. Let your 'self' recover along with your body before getting back out there, you've got time you've just been given it.

What's the point in saving your life if you don't live it fully in all the ways you want to although that could be different to how you lived it before. Give yourself time to get used to your scars first, let them fade a bit.

If course you shouldn't hide it! I agree with all of the points above, and more prosaically by the time things get to that stage no one will be bothered... I went on holiday once with a girl who worried endlessly about a tiny laparotomy scar from an appendicitis operation...considering she had very impressive boobs and was topless most of the time I told her no one would notice!

I'm hopefully seeing a friend tomorrow who had a mastectomy 20 years ago...it's certainly not going to stop us having fun!

Be proud of them. I have leg scars from a motor cycle accident, I love them. A good talking point when undressing with someone new. ( not nearly as bad as heart surgery scars though) I wish you well.

We know what they mean. We are all adults and most of us have scars. It's jus that my scars are internal.

Although I haven't had open heart surgery I have got multiple scars from operations on my body. I was once prowes to show off the eight pack but my body has changed recently and I was self conscious. But my last two meets no one has said a thing.

Scars, however they’ve been created, show a battle fought and won. I suffered badly with my MH in my early twenties and used DSH as a way of coping. I was ashamed of my scars and put a tattoo over them and although I love my tattoo, I regret covering up the battles I fought back then and came through the other side.

Your scar gave you another chance at life, that’s nothing to cover up. You are alive and writing this post because of that scar

I had bypass surgery twenty years ago, my chest scar is now non existent, I have a scar from my ankle to my groin where they took a vein for my quadruple bypass which is still visible, I also have a scar on both my ass cheeks from having both my hips replaced, Im proud of my scars and dont let them bother me, embrace them.

high had a few surgeries myself over the last 4 years now have scar that goes from waistband to just where my rib cage meets.freaked me out at first but after about 6 months I started to realise I was the one paying it loads of attention most others didn't give it a 2nd look.and those who did notice it usually asked out of curiosity what it was from

i had a pacemaker in a pouch of skin on the front of my shoulder and was always proud of it the model i have now sits in my heart so cant show off as much only a gnat bite where old pacemaker was x we are so lucky what medics can do for us now i am very grateful and humble x

Going with the consensus here and saying just wear it with the knowñedge it is part of you, your story and without it, well.

I fully get the self awareness issue, having been through it myself after a motorbiike decided seperating my pelvis was a fun thing to do. It wasnt. 1/10 cannot reccommend. The scars it left behind are not pretty but if they can see them things are not going too badly.

I really hope you feel able to just accept them as part of your life story.

I dont know what some people are going to think of that but i have no intention of hiding it away. Just like my overweight tum and small cock it might not be desirable to some, but its all me. You could play up the scar and have a tattoo around it, incorporating the scar into the design. Obviously, you can't tattoo the tissue itself, but you can work around it.

It'd be cool to have a "Chestburster" from the Alien films around it.

My brother in law hated his for a long time. He was a gum and running freak when he fell over dead on a run.

Anyway after months and months of being miserable about his scars, he seen a documentary of women who decided to bare all after double mastectomy and rhem saying about how empowering it was. Completely changed his outlook. Now he goes top less on beaches and at home all the time.

I’ve never been ashamed of my scars. However a circumcision at 18 after a weird fibrosis thing happened and I have always been conscious of the scars (that are worse because I was 18, in a hospital ward full of nurses when I came round the next morning - early riser, split the stitches and it can look like Mike Tyson took a bite out of it in round 5.

Only recently though has somebody refused to give it any attention (the scar is about the only sensitive part left 🤷‍♂️🥺🤦)

Is it too late for that stretch mark cream. 37 years ago it was the worst day of my life EVER - oh i fucking wish 🤣🤣👅

Please don't shy away. I imagine it's a lot to adjust to, mentally and physically. I saw your post a while ago and thought to reply and happy to see you have so much support here from the community. I echo what people say: scars are our journey, our life and our soul too.

I have a few, and when healing, Bi-oil helped them heal and settle and the skin calm down over time. It feels nice too a d helps a multitude of skin things. Hope it's helpful somewhat.
