" A half-empty jar of Vicks sits on the table. " How many different people's fingers have been in that jar ? Most likely that is the source of the spread of fungal nail infection.

"I have spent 33 weeks with cider vinegar soaked sliced bread wrapped around my fungal nail and it still hasn't cured. " Add a bit of vapour rub to the mix ? But most importantly, how's your liver doing?

"Spoke to a doctor last week. Over the counter do not work. Blood tests at the doctors to check liver function. Course of tablets are the only thing that works. The infection is under the nail. Putting things on top of the nail is pointless. " If the doctor knew how to use Google he could've advised you to use vapour rub and it would be gone in a day or two

"Using Lamisil cream on my nails. It is normally used specifically to treat athletes foot infection but seems to be working on the fungal nail infection. Both conditions are related and the presence of one may in fact give rise to the other. Early days but the Lamisil seems to be working. Fingers and toes crossed..🤞🦶" Very interesting, now correct me if I'm going off piste here. Lamasil treats athletes foot and possibly fungle nail, but several athletes foot treatments also treat the bain of our lives Jock Itch. Can I conclude having read all the thread that Jock Itch, fungle nail and athletes foot are all related 'illness' and can be treated with Vick. Asking for itching friend

"Scene Setting for the Sequel. The digital room falls silent. A half-empty jar of Vicks sits on the table. Somewhere in Britain, a man is soaking his feet in cider vinegar. Another is waiting for liver function test results. A podiatrist senses a disturbance in the force. From the darkness comes a familiar voice… “Has anyone mentioned Vicks Vapour Rub recently?” The thread counter ticks over. 176. A new discussion is born." Why oh why... I waited and waited for that thread to get to 175, then some smart arse creates a new one arghhh!!

"Use tea tree oil. Every day." I second this. I am using tea tree oil 2x a day on my big toe nail...stopped the fungus and the discoloration has almost grown out in 4 months. Dr Organic Tea Tree Nail Solution.

Some OTC products may in fact also clear the fungal infection but, similar to when drugs are used, re infection happens when you come in contact with the fungal spores once again through footwear, socks or public areas where people go barefoot.
