Not quite that but I get vertigo if I’ve worked my neck or shoulders too hard in gym or if I’ve done a big bike ride and been in one position for too long.

Basically any position that stresses my neck muscles too much, I can feel it coming on so if I stop soon enough the symptoms are reduced.

It’s due to someone landing on back of my head years ago.

I suffered with this for years. It's a real bind. Have you done the Epley maneuver?

The Epley manoeuvre was a lifesaver when I had BPPV.

I never experienced anything as intense as the first episode. As others have mentioned, you can sense the symptoms building up and then it’s all about being mindful of your posture to prevent them from happening.

Think I’ll see if this Epley manoeuvre helps me when it starts coming on.

Never heard of it before.

Hallpike’s manoeuvre. Hope you like throwing up.

Get someone to help you and repeat no more than three times.

If it hasn’t helped by the third, get it investigated.

Another common cause of BPPV can be wearing noise cancelling headphones for long durations.

Just started with vertigo after sleeping with a white noise headband 😭 had no idea beforehand that it could have negative effects. Does noise cancelling headphones vertigo ever go away after it’s been caused?

Yes, though may take a while. Hallpike/Epley is a good way to try to sort it but it’s not fun.

Wish you all the best and you have my sympathy. It’s not nice at all.

Thank you. Dr tried to lay me down and tip my head back for it and I was nearly sick so he aborted. I need to learn it at home I think - near a bowl

Somewhere in the middle not the.....

Dix–Hallpike test confirms bppv and which affected canal. There's 3 different manouvres that can be used, Epley, Semont, and Brandt–Daroff to correct, Epley tends to get the best results.

Unfortunately can last up to around 3 months, if it carries on push to go back to ENT/Vestibular clinic and have/have more manoeuvre therapy.

Theres lots more i can add but I'll be going on forever.

Go to your local osteopath and get an Eplay manoeuvre. Works wonders.

Yeap, get your GP to refer you to auditory medicine. The consultant and nurse will throw you around until your eyes stop spinning 🤢

Funny story,

When I first started to get the symptoms I thought I was possessed!

That was 20 years ago and it still recurs every so often.

The epley manoeuvre was a life saver for me and it was one of the occupational therapy physios at my, then, job that told me about it while I was undergoing treatment for a hip problem.

I can now do the epley manoeuvre on my own with the help of a hat I bought on Amazon called DizzyFix.

Yes, done epley manoeuvre twice now. This last week been having feelings it’s almost coming back again. Just little sense of unsteadiness. Not done anything about it yet tho

I get it sometimes, it comes and goes and I hate it. I wish I knew what brought it on.

As others have said, the epley manoeuvre helped more than Brandt-Doroff for me. It helped more once I understood about the crystals and I was essentially moving them back into place.

I thought a trapped nerve from sleeping was the culprit but I can't prove it.

Hope it's better soon

I had it whilst laying underneath a car, I thought somethings not right here and crawled out, sat against the wheel and my house literally turned upside down an couple of times, I had that last for a good 4 months before I was steady on my feet again.

I learned it was caused if I lay down on my left side or straight back, I had to get into bed on my right side then slowly roll over onto my back.

Years later I can still bring it on if I’m not careful but no where near as bad.

Good luck, I truly sympathise with you.

It was quite frightening when I had it, took a couple of days to fully manifest then I had to crawl around on all fours until the Epley manoeuvre sorted it after a couple of repeats.

From what I have read it can be caused by stress and fatigue as well as viral infection.
