morecambe for the day

Has anyone who has or is having issues with piles,I have been for a while.

Anyway earlier after finishing a 💩 I when wiping accidently popped a hemorrhoid resulting fair bit of blood but the pain is horrendous not surprising really.

Anyone else done similar and were there any issues after.

Round the bend

Id probably ring 111 and get professional advice OP. Half of us perverts only dress up as doctors and nurses.

I glanced down the list of threads and initially thought this said Pies!

Sorry OP can’t help but, hope you’re ok and as above, give 111 a ring

One of my least favourite thread genres is the "I've got a medical problem so let's ask a bunch of strangers on the Internet one".

Seriously though OP, if you're worried then you should seek proper medical advice.

Might need an antibiotic as bacteria from the poo going into your blood stream, may not be fun.

(If your getting a temp. Take paracetamol.)

What everyone else has said. Best call 111.

Medical advice, shmedical advice. Boil up some lavender and spray a circle of the infusion in a circle on the bathroom floor. Sit in the centre reciting nigella's strawberry daiquiri recipe backwards 3 times, you'll be right as ninepence in the morning

couple, us we him her.

The old chalfonts can be extremely painful and last ages if left untreated.

Yes it's embarrassing to go to GP, practice nurse maybe able to help as well.

I'd definitely be contacting your local NHS service provider, either GP, 111 or pharmacy.

One bit of advice I'd definitely offer is speaking to the pharmacist about stool softeners .

As others have said seek medical advice. Especially if still bleeding. Pharmacist can advise creams/suppositories for pain and itching. Surgery isn't routinely done these days unless extremely troublesome. Your GP can/will refer you if necessary. Also, as someone else advised, stool softeners, to ensure stools are soft and easier to pass. Plenty of water too

I’d suggest that if you have any concerns regarding rectal bleeding you get to the GP. Easy enough for them to check if it is piles.

I had acute rectal bleeding early last year. Convinced it was simple piles but did think it was abnormal amounts of blood.

GP was first class. Urgent scope revealed a large polyp. These can turn cancerous so good thing to have caught. It was removed and I am now checked annually.

Don’t delay. Just get them checked and if you think it isn’t right get back in touch with your GP

Pharmacy is first port of call. Get some anusol cream with hydrocortisone in it. Will calm down the inflammation. Buy some laxative to help soften your stool. After each bowel movement instead of wiping, dab (will prevent irritating and opening up wounds). If no better within a week call GP

"How big are piles? Luckily not yet suffered but they sound horrendous? And how are they not treated more seriously ?"

Generally treated from topical medication to banding (little rubber bands) to surgery.

Depends where located and severity.

As always, go to GP, although new to you, they have seen and treated or referred thousands of times before you.

If you think piles themselves are uncomfortable just wait until you get an infection. The pain is excruciating so if you’ve ‘popped one’ get medical advice without delay.

Piles are like visiting relatives.

If they come down and go back again, everything's fine.

It's when they don't go back that they become a problem.

Depending on the severity, chances are if they don’t need emergency treatment from bursting or whatever you most likely can get them banded.

I have them they occur and go, usually keeping my stool soft is enough to stop that from happening. Banding is uncomfortable but is highly effective at getting rid of them for good
