"I had Ablation surgery about 18 months ago, and it's the best decision I've ever made. My bleeds have stopped, the only trace of Menopausal symptoms is the occasional hot flush in the afternoon, but that's it. Ah that's good my mum had that aswell she said it was good Maybe I just got lucky on this one."

"I've been in Perimenopause since my early 30s and vaginal dryness has been one of my worst symptoms. I can't fuck at all without lube and I'm not 40 yet You need localised oestrogen. Creams are messy but you can use a small amount externally too. Are you on hrt?

Download the Balance app, do a symptoms checker report and see a different GP. Nice guidelines are also useful too, have a Google.

"I'm peri menopausal, I find itchy skin and aching joints are the worse for me. I also struggle even more with sleeping. I'm taking a natural supplement called peri menofriend by Dr vegan. It definitely helps with the aches and pains and my skin isn't as dry, as they have soy isoflavones in, which mimic oestrogen. " The itching was the worst for me also, my arms especially. The marina coil stopped all that. I take magnesium glycinate that helps tremendously with sleeping.

No brain fog, night sweats, hot flushes are very rare.. and still very much wanting sex (just don't get it lol) It's been a life changer " I’m probably at the perimenopause stage. "Get yourself some vaginal oestrogen from your doctor it will solve the dryness issue. I can vouch for this & have only been on it a matter of days & the difference already it’s made. it’s nice to feel normal again 👌🏻 I'm perimenopausal but the worst symptoms for me are the anxiety and heart palpitations. "It is so frustrating reading some of your posts ladies… it is always possible to have her - even after cancer - if it is managed properly. It is about mitigating risks and doing what is best big picture…. For me I suffered for 10 years without realising there was help and I hate seeing other so the same… But the crux of it for me is that oestrogen helps to mitigate the risks of heart disease (no 1 killer of women) and osteoporosis (just plain horrible)… Managing menopause symptoms is a juggling act and managing your doctor can be even worse, but do your research and stand your ground…! Dr Louise Newman has an amazing podcast, I listened for hrs doing research, she is the worlds leading expert in all things menopausal and if all else fails runs a private clinic who will make recommendations to your go. But I have found that the biggest hurdle for most women is denial - admitting you have got to ‘that age’ and overcoming the stigma of even the word menopause - after that embracing something that can help with all the horrible symptoms it can cause is the easy part 😂 As many people say, if it affected men there would be automatic treatment given to everyone - look at what has happened with viagra ffs…! Yes we are supposed to suck it up as part of getting older?! Well no thank you…!!"

An ablation would have no factor on menopuse. I've had one. I've had bloods done to check what stage I'm at for menopause. Results came back, as I'm no where near starting. So up next for the hystorectomy. Keeping my overies, so I don't go straight to menapouse.

Not sure what to say to my doctors as he's already told me I can't have hrt cause I don't get flushes I don't really want to go on hrt but might need some help with lubrication " I didn't stop having periods until I was 56, I have found dryness to be a big problem in the last couple of years. It is not like normal HRT as it doesnt enter the bloodstream, just works where you need it! Talk to your Dr and if they don’t know about it try the next one until you get one who is educated on it, took me 3 years and lots of UTI before I got told about it by chance. Don’t be fobbed off by you’re not old enough or you don’t need it. Look up Davina McCall and all those other celebs talking about it they have lead the way in this and the Docs are following

"I've dryness and my sex drive goings from wanting to have sex and none stop wanting to play with pusay to now iam hardly ever horny." Strange really as now that the risk of unwanted pregnancy is gone you'd think recreational sex would appeal more and the thought of good orgasms would appeal more However............. Apparently desire can return. You just have to avoid total abstinence as that can switch it off and be far far harder to rekindle the fire in your pussy. Menapause is cruel in the way it gives with one hand but takes away with the other.

"I know it's not a 'one size fits all' with symptoms etc...but I still find it so horrific that in 2025, the GPs are still very inconsistent with support for women going through the menopause I am definitely one of the lucky ones who has only suffered with hot flushes for the past 4 months and after a few tests I got told I am menopausal and am now on HRT But my fight was with numerous GPs refusing to listen that I could be menopausal as I'm 'too young' I’ve been fighting with my GP for a nearly two years now as SHE says I am too young to be suffering with menopausal symptoms. She insisted in giving me a Merena coil but I haven’t been as lucky as you with it stopping my period, in fact since having it I’ve spent more time on than ever before. I am sick of the doctors not listening to me. I know my body better than they do,

"Curious to hear ladies experience of being on testosterone whilst also on *traditional " HRT? I've been on it for about 6 months now and it's been a game changer. Definitely helps lift my mood and general outlook on things. Had my bloods done recently and my T level was 1.6. The average is 1.5 for a woman my age so GP wants to see me next week. Not had any other changes physically (voice, excessive hair it hair loss) so I will be sorely disappointed if she tries to take me off it!" Im on testosterone and its helped me lots also. My levels were above average and was told to use every other day rather than every day. Now they have dropped lots again, do im back up to using every day. No side effects. Being reviewed by menopause clinic in Nov but thinking of going private, as I'm not happy with my GP responses to my levels being really low again for all hormones

"Perimenopausal here. It's a joy. Not. Aches and pains everywhere, not everyday but definitely during the week. Electric zaps on my skin every now and again. Brain fog, my tongue tripping up words, the hot flushes have started though still in early stages of that, itchy ears, periods heavy and irregular oh yay for that one lol Sleepless nights, palpitations occasionally, libido is now named cotton eyed Joe, cos where did he come from and where did he fucking go ? Lol Dry skin, I could be drenched in moisturiser and still look like elephant skin lmao. Even vertigo/balance problems. They bang on about the coil, but I don't want the bloody coil. Hrt, now that is a minefield of trying to get it right, and I can't have combined hrt. All this just to stop having eggs and periods... fml! Only good thing is I can finally I can say before I think now lol. Can easily tell someone to do one if they are being a knob lol. " Well said hun know most of them feelings and its robbing me of my lovely long thick hair

She is well impressed with it, she has no soreness, dryness or sensitivity in a bad way down below anymore. The skin on her face she says is miles better in texture to." I've not heard of using it on your face 🤔

"I’m nearly 43 and wondering if I’m starting to be perimenopausal. My mood changes with the wind, my ears itch like hell and my periods are lasting way too long. Is that normal? I keep seeing a company pop up on my fb feeds called bioID. Has anyone used them? I was thinking of doing my bloods through them so everything gets checked. " My brain also thinks that 4hrs sleep a night is acceptable when it really isn’t 🤣

" Bloods aren't generally an indication of where you are menopause-wise as your levels can change daily. Symptoms are by far the most reliable way to know - and there are dozens of symptoms. At the age you are, it's highly likely you're in peri or are menopausal. If you're on FB, there are various groups where you'll get loads of advice.. women going through it are your best source for information

Kidney failure, then transplant but anti rejection medication caused other issues which led to HPV and prolapse (caused by water dialysis ) eventually she had a hysterectomy and prolapse repair. So she's been through the mill. Not surprisingly gone off sex " Oh bless her there are some horrible issues linked to menopause since hitting menopause I have been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis been in and out of hospital with it

Its tackled a whole range of problems i was just putting up with: UTIs, urgency and frequency issues (I can sleep through the night now) and sore labia (even toilet roll felt raw). It rebuilds the skin as well as adding moisture and elasticity. The doctor will prescribe it daily for a short period and then ask you to go twice a week. But having done a bit of reading, this seems to be more about the cost of the cream and if you need it daily, ask for it daily. Its felt like a game changer 🙂

You seem knowledgeable...I know you have to steer clear of your partner for an hour after applying oestrogen gell to your thighs (so that the hormones don't transfer) but it doesn't seem as clear with the vaginal oestrogen. Ive read its a lower dose of hormones and if you insert it high enough the hormones will have absorbed fairly quickly and the cream that then ( i was going to type 'falls' but that would suggest ive got a bucket fanny!) moves down your vagina over the next 12-15 hours is okay for him to touch. Is that your understanding too? Rachel 🙂

I go to the sexual health clinic in person because GP basic gynaecology is crap! The lady told me to use Epaderm daily ( apart from days when having sex with condoms). I find that it killed any dryness and irritation on my labia but also is a barrier from shower gel and soap getting anywhere near my vagina. I had to leave my job because the stress was making me ill and I had a weightlifting trainer for 8 weeks. I still weigh a lot but my body has recompositioned into more muscle. The more muscle and protein seems to be improving my symptoms. I always use water-based lubes...simply because those go with most condoms and most silicone toys. Good luck ladies. If all else fails, I will be buying hormones from a private pharmacy because my GP isn't listening to a thing I say.

"My menopause symptoms started in 2012. I’m still suffering with hot flushes. I need lubricants on prescription. I used to gush but not anymore. I can’t take HRT or any hormone products. My mood swings have been awful at times. For a year I was only sleeping for an hour a night. " I started to practice CBT-insomnia I had to stop working to reduce the stress. I started to lift weights and do more relaxation activities such as massage, going to the nudist spa ( cheaper than a regular spa) I already had intensive therapy to help with my mood swings as I have BPD/EUPD so that gives terrible mood swings from the time I was a teenager. Someone recommended herbal menopause supplements but I haven't tried them yet because supplements and medication, need to be monitored by the NHS due to my severe disabling mental health. It's trash that women have to suffer this for over a decade!!

From the reading i have done the skin in your vagina is thinner because of the loss of oestrogen. Its also dryer which means it looses elasticity. Lube will only mean its easier for someone to get inside you, it won't make it easier for your vagina to expand to accommodate a penis/fingers/toys. Whereas vaginal oestrogen puts hormones back directly where they are needed. Your skin will thicken, become more elastic and some of the self lubrication will return. 🙂

I'm still in perimenopause and my hormones haven't dropped low enough for estrogen on the NHS. I can probably get estrogen privately but my employment is all up in the air as I'm so ill. Also with my mental health, I'm more partial to holistic and alternative treatments before I turn to prescriptions. I've been on prescriptions since I was age 20. They need to be closely monitored because yup I'm the one with dodgy side effects. I was going to take CBD and the pharmacist said With my mental health absolutely not. There are ways to lessen certain symptoms without HRT and those women who can't take HRT for health reasons have to use those.

"I had Ablation surgery about 18 months ago, and it's the best decision I've ever made. My bleeds have stopped, the only trace of Menopausal symptoms is the occasional hot flush in the afternoon, but that's it. Maybe I just got lucky on this one. I'm waiting on a surgery date for ablation, been bleeding almost constantly for 30 months. Do you mind me asking how long the procedure and recovery time was?" I don't know why they put women through this. Hugs.

"Any tips for sleep with menopause as lucky if I get 3 hours a night and also sexual appetite is at very low so tips to boost if there is anything thankyou " I read this book "4 Weeks to Better Sleep: How to Get a Better Night's Sleep Book by Michael Mosley" And looked up CBT-Insomnia. Sexually I now regularly schedule things to connect with my body and other people's, sensory, sensually and visually. Cause if I'm just at home alone, nothing sexy is going to happen. Luckily one of my regular play partners in the poly pod is an extremely good masseur, standard vanilla rehab massage but also erotic, sensual, yoni/vulva massage. He also massages my mouth and jaw with his hands, and then I'm all relaxed orally for him to stick his cock in.
