Vaccination for various diseases has saved billions of lives and reduced long term disease related health problems world wide. In my opinion, vaccination is one of the greatest things in the medical "tool kit". Millions of lives have been saved, including of many children, who rely on their parents to help to protect their interests. So many lives that could have been wasted, without the giant leap that vaccine discovery and protection has secured.
Thousands of children still die from malaria, which new vaccine development could help to prevent.
With vaccine technology now being used for cancer treatments vaccines have truly been a modern miracle. As bacteria develop antibiotics resistance, the future world may be ever more dependent on vaccines, as our key lifesaving medical tool.
