"Slightly warm olive oil, failing that I find the best solution is otex eardrops from the chemist, always worked for me . My ears used to block every three or four months." Yea but aren’t those suggestions for people with wax Luv I was told not to put any fluids in at all in case it is already a fluid condition

"If there's no wax or blockage in the outer ear, it could be mucus or fluid, and/or inflammation in the middle ear/ eustachian tube between ear, nose & mouth. I find antihistamines, hot compress on face/sinuses followed by Saline rinsing the nose helps." Finally someone with good advice……not tried the hot compress but will tonight…thank you xxxx

(Healthcare worker here), obviously discuss with your pharmacist first, but this good advise, but a decongestant rather than an antihistamine may work more efficiently- (not suitable if on Blood Pressure medication)

"A pharmacist? An ENT Proffesional more like" A pharmacist is a professional and easier to access than a GP who would have to refer to the ENT.

"A pharmacist? An ENT Proffesional more like A pharmacist is a professional and easier to access than a GP who would have to refer to the ENT." You can self refer to ENT. It was worth it in my case saved a lot of faffing around, the ENT consultant can do audiology, clear wax from your ears prescribed strong nasal sprays, advise you how to equalise the pressure, tell you the pros and cons of installing grommets all in a 15 minute appointment for less than £200

"Try sticking your finger up your but holding your breath and farting. The back pressure build up should clear your ears out nicely " This works better if you use someone else’s finger to plug up. Don’t use a butt plug though as the potential misfire could rocket that thing out if there and cause someone in the line of fire a mischief!! Hope it clears up for you though..

Since when do GPs refer to any specialist dept without either investigating or trying other avenues first?

"Beware anti inflammatory medications if you have infection. The inflammation is your bodies way of fighting the infection, delivering heat and immune mechanisms in the blood. Anti inflammatory medications like ibrupofen and paracetamol switch off these defences and can be the cause of sepsis. This is true, well proven, but not widely known. Your GP may not even know it yet." Paracetamol is antipyrexial. The idea is that these meds allow the body's natural inflammatory reaction without going overboard.
