"Just seen on BBC news that Viagra MAY help men to reduce Alzheimer's. But not women? Researchers want to do a trial with women. That sounds very interesting. Would you give it a try?" I'm at high risk so possibly. I'd have to weigh up risks Vs benefits and look into how they're making these assertions. Such as the effect on tau tangles and amyloid beta (basically the protein plaques that cause Alzheimer's), or whether it has the potential to reduce vascular or other dementia types. And if I get a hard on? Bonus

"I'd hazard a guess that men using Viagra are more socially active and thus less likely to develop Alzheimer's as all the people I know who developed it lived alone and didn't socialise but I'm definitely not an expert or anything remotely close, just an observation " I was thinking same thing, do pop one occasionally if on a special meet

" Viagra is a branded version of Sildenafil, this is prescribed to both men and women as a treatment for Pulmonary Arterial hypertension (a type of high blood pressure) " Did you know that antihistamines neutralise the effect ogained from using Viagra, so anybody who needs to medicate hayfever, dust allergies, colds or just the sensation/side effects that cause the bunged up feeling will have to make a decision on which pill to take

"Didn't I read recently that continued use of viagra causes health problems? Viagra works by boosting blood flow to the penis — causing an erection — This is achieved by turning off an enzyme called phosphodiesterase 5. But in the process, the drug also interferes with a related enzyme in retinal cells. At high doses, experts say visgra could permanently damage the retina causing vision problems" Are they confusing Viagra with masturbation?

"Just seen on BBC news that Viagra MAY help men to reduce Alzheimer's. " Bit of an odd one really. Correlation does not prove (or disprove) causation. It may be that the group of guys taking Viagra included in the study have a healthier sex life than those in the group who were not taking it. So it could be the sex that was effective in reducing the incidence or onset of Alzheimer's. On a slightly depressing note it maybe that the chaps that were taking the drug were having more interaction with others of any sort than the potentially lonely souls that weren't. Social isolation is a known risk factor for onset of dementia. Something else to look forward to in ones dotage! Incidentally, I remember seeing a news article reporting a study that men taking ED drugs were less likely to develop coronary disease, kind of makes sense as I'm sure Viagra was originally researched and discovered as a drug to help dilate coronary blood vessels. Get out there and enjoy every day as much as you can has been my motto for a while. Easy to say of course when you are as lucky as I am and have Lulu to love!!!

Interested to see if women get the same benefit Regarding the coronary artery disease issue, it's ALSO possible that men who don't have heart disease just fuck more and of course use more viagra. On the other hand, men WITH heart disease get chest pains etc and so don't fuck (and therefore just don't buy viagra). But when you look at groups of people, you notice that the ones taking viagra "happen" to have less heart disease! Not cause-effect just association

"Viagra actually started life to fight altitude sickness, then in further trials they found it helped the heart. It came to be used for ED because also during the trials in the hospital they noticed alot of the men were getting erections!!! I only know this as I researched it as I'm prescribed it to stop the numbness I have in my hands and feet." Neuropathy? I've never heard of Viagra being prescribed for that although ED can be ascribed to that too. How often do you take it? I wouldn't have thought occasional use (as for ED) would be sufficient to treat numbness in the hands and feet. Great if it works for you though

"Seeing someone with alzheimers is not a laughing matter it fucking hurts! And I find all the jokes here distasteful. Not everything is to be made into a joke. Grow up will you " I too know people with dementia and Alzheimer's, I personally think it's better to joke about than to allow yourself to get depressed. Ultimately, cracking a joke in the face of adversity can be an act of defiance or bravery, it says that we're not going to be give up the fight. Obviously we all face life's challanges differently, but making everything thing a joke is a fair coping technique. Cal
