"Harold Shipman Josef Mengele Obeisance to authority is not a virtue in itself. The NHS paid out £2.2 Billion in 2020-2021. All of those people put blind trust in their doctors." Blind trust isn't a good thing though. We are responsible for our own health choices. Dr's are part of our team to help us find remedies and keep us well. Bit they aren't to put our blind trust in that's for sure. They only know what we hell them... That and all the data they get from the vaccine chips.

"Whilst a long education is good. I guess that it is the new generation, did you know that apparently most doctors around the world dont have a levels, a levels are basically a british qualification and although a number of commonwealth countries use them, that leaves a lot of the world that doesnt." Yes of course. Whatever formal exams and tests.. People learn stuff differently now that before. Not sure what is most effective but it's virtual "teaching" now for a virtual education to see your virtual gp and have your virtual access to the virtual nhs...

"The inability of forum participants to understand nuance is disheartening. Of course you would see a doctor if you were hurt or injured, that doesn't mean that you can trust all doctors about everything. Doctors disagree on many things. Unless they are an expert in their field they unavoidably go to the default position. I would always take advice from a doctor about a broken arm but most of them have had almost no training in nutrition and the effects of different kinds of exercise on health. As a population we are more unhealthy than we have ever been despite record spending on healthcare, who is taking responsibility for this? I have done my own research on nutrition and exercise and I am very pleased that I did. If I had followed the recommended advice I would probably be just another prediabetic drain on the NHS." ![]() ![]()

"Along similar lines, something I didn't realise, people don't need a teaching qualification to teach in a private school. I find that exceptionally bizarre ![]() Technically, any state school can accept "unqualified" teachers, if they have a level of work experience or similar that qualifies them. Few schools actually make use of this, however. To teach exclusively in post 16, you don't need QTS. You need a teaching qualification but not full QTS.

"General Practitioner (GP) often do not have a specialty but are able to make a more informed/educated decision about whatever ailments are put in front of them. When you consider the amount of issues put before then it must be a bit of a minefield. Possibly most of us could come to a pretty close diagnosis through use of YouTube/google, but certain things I’ll leave to a doctor to decide the appropriate action. Also to many people are quick to have a google at what’s wrong with them, but very rarely look at what could be the cause, such as diet, weight, general health! " So, you reckon you and most of us could come to a pretty good diagnosis when someone tips up to your fAB surgery, without any medical qualification. What drugs would you prescribe? What about their history, especially the stuff they think you want to hear and what is somewhere close to the truth, co morbidities, family history, mental health issues or are they just drama queens or folks wanting a week off work or forever off work. So, how much do you drink each week Karen, nothing at all, just a Baileys at Christmas. Run at least 27km a day, 100 lengths of the baths twice a week, only eat salads and 15 pieces of fresh fruit a day. Wow, that's fantastic but how come you need a size 26 dress. Oh, your friend says you suffer from big bone syndrome and all this paperwork you printed from the internet shows its true ..... GP's not specialising in anything, what about specialists in community medicine? Think you have unwittingly just proved why best to go to doctors when you are sick. Solicitors when you want legal advice. Roofers to fix your leaky roof. Lolly pop ladies/gents when crossing a road. Good luck with your surgery tomorrow, hope you have good liability insurance. ![]() ![]()

Most be true its on google I know someone admitted to hospital and the actual nurse had to Google the treatment for what was wrong with the person I kid you not. " Just after Xmas my mum was quite Ill and was taken to hospital, she had Covid and hadn’t eaten for over a week, without going into detail everyone was a little flummoxed with what was wrong and why treatments given were not having the effect they hoped. With google in my pocket I was able to question everything that had been done and also suggest what other parameters the doctors should consider. …. Further tests were completed and further treatments, based on my questioning and suggestion. During the time there nurses responded, at least 5 times, to my mums uncontrollable shaking by stripping blankets as she ‘had a temperature’, despite temperatures being taken and always showing a normal temperature. When the last was pushed he declared he didn’t trust the in ear thermometers and proceeded to administer paracetamol by drip to reduce the temperature she did not have! The experience was very poor…. Without my interventions, Googling and questions raised she may well have not been with us now.

"My GP was on bog-standard Google, Googling as I would. She wasn’t on any dedicated sites" GPs use well authored sites, like "Patient" and NHS sites and print the information at layman's level for patients. They've done away with the pile of pre printed (and probably expensive) leaflets in stacks and now just print what they need, that's specific for the individual.
