Just..

When you thought Nov/Dec (BA1) and Feb/Mar (BA2) variants were over, seems South Africa has the next Viral Gift for us.

They're infection rate is climbing rapidly again.

BA3 and BA4 arriving at a UK International Airport near you anytime soon. As UK is no longer testing, we'll not be aware they've arrived but no doubt another Wave or two, just in time for summer.

For those had it twice in three months, buckle up, your in for another ride on the CovyCoaster.

We've always been told its something we're going to get infected with time and time again until in years to come its as usual to catch as the common cold. No vaccine or testing regime is going to change that, we just need to crack on. I reckon most people now will treat it like any other form of illness and crack on with their lives regardless.

Anyway, should be more worried about ww3 right now..

..at least until the next big crisis comes along..

I think that 3 and 4 are already here, likely in very small numbers.

South Africa has their summer over, so will likely have seasonal behaviour influences causing rates to rise now.

These sub-variants are not too well known, thus may not have any characteristics that influence them becoming dominant here. The testing and tracking of variants is important though, as there will surely be a new variant from somewhere that is significantly more of a problem. We can sleepwalk into a crisis, because we are bored and don't care, or because we want to pretend everything is perfect and we'd like to deflect from the rule breaking we did and want the public to be misdirected.

I don't see much sign of any plans for the future here.

"Wow, you’re a bundle of joy! "

Not really.. just a heads up.

Friend of mine with vulnerable son who suffered badly with BA1, caught BA2 3 months later, which nearly killed him.

But then again.. some selfish people wouldn't understand, would they.

ZZZZZzzzz

Or is that the symbol they put on Russian tanks?

Do you keep a running commentary on ALL viruses that mutate & make people feel a bit under the weather for a couple of days?

Switch channel if you don't like.

I hope he’s ok. People seem to forget that even mild infections can be serious to vulnerable people.

Common conditions such as asthma and epilepsy kill as well but some people underestimate how serious they can be.

It’s better to be forewarned.

He ain't OK.. they've said it will be a while before lungs recover and still very poorly as its floored him.

Suffers severe Asthma and although expectations were that a second dose would be better as antibodies boosted.

Not turned out that way for the poor kid and was touch and go on ICU. Oxygene and very strong steroids brought him through the worst.

Family are dreading the new subs as its likely he'll have both in the next couple of months as at public school and the unknown outcome of yet another infection.

But, as you say. Some people don't or won't understand that. To claim its a mild sniffles for a few days, when you read some of the comments on here of those felt really ill while having it over the past few weeks.

Trying to work out if that's ignorance or arrogance, then again, should I really care?

Unfortunately, Covid is far from GONE, it will continue to be a pain in the arse for quite some time. Thankfully, for the majority the symptoms are minor, but not for everyone and many who are more at risk will continue to need extra precautions.

Thankfully there are still people thinking of others and continuing to give a bit of extra space and wear masks in enclosed places.
