People could be fined £10,000 if they try to fake a COVID result

Laws due to be brought in by the government could see people fined up to £10,000 if they try to falsify a COVID pass or test result.

The Health Protection (Coronanvirus, Restrictions) (Entry to Venues and Events) (England) Regulations 2021 make it an offence to make, adapt, supply or offer to supply "false evidence of COVID status to another person" which is known to be "false or misleading" and this will be punishable by a fixed penalty notice (FPN).

Other offences under the regulations also could result in fines for breaking the rules.

These include a £1,000 FPN in the first instance, reduced to £500 if paid within 14 days, for example for venues who do not comply with the rules or ignore improvement notices issued by councils.

The fines double for the second and third offences (£2,000 and then £4,000), jumping to £10,000 for the fourth or any subsequent offences thereafter.

A second COVID law on self-isolation has also been updated, confirming the decision to scrap the measure for those who have come into contact with a suspected Omicron case.

Instead, documents say: "All close contacts, regardless of the variant, will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are: (a) a person who has received a complete course of the coronavirus vaccination, provided that the contact takes place more than 14 days after they have completed their course of vaccinations; (b) a person who is taking part in a vaccine trial, (c) a person who can provide evidence that for clinical reasons they should not be vaccinated, or (d) a child."

"OMG police state. "

And like any time in history the only way things can be carried out is by the populace’s acquiescence.

How, exactly, is that a police state?

If you don’t want the vaccine, fine, your choice.

If that’s the case, if you then fake it you’ve lost your moral high ground and deserve everything you get

easy isnt it ... dont fake a pass or get a legitimate one by having the vaccinations.

Its a simple choice ... CHOICE being the operative word.

My daughter and I both had the AZ vaccine and the booster and reacted badly to all of them, she was very very poorly after the first one and I thought she’d end up being hospitalised

I thought the point of the vaccines was so everyone could get away from restrictions and move towards a normal life again - unfortunately that doesn’t appear to be the case.

If people refuse to be vaccinated without a justifiable medical reason they should have restrictions out on them and those who do get vaccines and boosters should be allowed to fully return a ‘normal’ life again

369 MPs just voted for COVID passports, which provably don't work, which the government's own report said could make the spread worse, and which are a huge lurch towards a Communist social credit score-style 'papers please' dystopia.

Thanks, imbeciles. We won't forget.

Whether you forget or not it makes no difference, given the vaccine take up it looks like your a minority player so what can you do other than whinge and strop like a child not liking being told what to do? As for 'papers please' weve always had that ... driving licence, passport, proof of nationality or permission to stay to get a job. My papers are fully in order so im cool with 'vaccine passports' its no big deal flashing my NHS app or getting a letter of vaccine status

"How, exactly, is that a police state?

Absolutely, fake is the same as fraud and deception.

There are already laws covering the same in different ways. This just keeps the required burden of proof and paperwork to a minimum by being specific.

Some common sense at last!!

If you refuse the vaccine, no one is forcing you have it. But faking a COVID passport or test result is morally wrong and exactly why it will be, and should be treated as such.

I think you’ll find choices come with responsibility. Incorrect actions create consequences usually ones of detriment.
