Don't overthink it, you've been ill and your body just needs to recover a bit

If your appetite dropped while you were ill you'll be a little low in energy

Give it a couple weeks and you'll be fine I hope

Reading/bracknell

COVID messes about with hormone levels, (lots of menses issues in females) and the body spares energy to fight the virus off.

So arousal will be limited as a result, more in some than others.

Keep resting and balance the diet best you can. It should get back to normal but no-one can say when really.

COVID is not a simple cold.. be patient, good luck!

I've a mate this happened to. It's been 2 months since his test and nothing downstairs. He's getting really stressed about it now which I'm trying highlight won't help at all. He's working with his doctor to try and find a solution but nothing so far. Even viagra didn't help him to get / stay hard. We were chatting about it last week at work and he was close to tears.

For me it's one of the most frightening things that could happen with covid.

I hope things work out and the little man starts working again soon OP.

North West

The virus that causes COVID causes significant disruption and change to the cells that line blood vessels (the endothelial layer). This impacts on the body's ability to regulate blood pressure and is one reason why a splitting headache is common with COVID - disruption to the normal BP in the small vessels of the brain.

Erections require small vessels in the erectile tissue of the penis to flood with blood, due to the way the pressure in the blood vessels changes in response to stimulus. The fact that your body cannot currently regulate the blood pressure properly will be the cause of your lack of erection.

The endothelial cells are not ones that replicate often or at all. Damage may be permenant and may explain some Long COVID symptoms. Endothelial damage happens for other reasons, e.g. diet, other infections, environmental damage etc. This pernicious damage to what should be a very smooth layer of cells lining the vessels is why cardiovascular disease risk increases with age, for example.

If you have not recovered your ability to achieve erection within a couple of weeks of testing positive, please consult a doctor, OP, because there's a real risk of long term cardiovascular damage with COVID.

COVID is also linked to an increased risk of blood clots, especially micro clots that can appear symptomless or cause few/no outward indications. There's potential treatment for both clots and the inflammatory processes causing the damage to blood vessels, but drugs must be given at the right time.

Please do not ignore your symptoms.

I feel for you, I am on day 5 of isolation with Covid. This is the second time I have had Covid, the last was 6 months ago. The first time was a bit rougher than this time but once the first few days was over downstairs worked fine though (carnal thoughts were far from my mind up till that point due to feeling terrible), quite understandably, and under government advice, my partner was not getting involved! I did lose all interest and felt nothing during and shortly after recovery when I had double pneumonia, 20 years ago which was far worse than covid for me. It was terrifying at the time, both the physical illness and mental consequences, but both passed relatively quickly. That was my only brush with mental health issues, which wasn’t pleasant. My doctor helped me rationalise why I was affected the way I was, explaining serious illness can do that, and that enabled me to mentally recover almost instantly. Covid can definitely influence your mental health as much as your physical health. My dad, had covid 4 weeks ago and for the first time in his life, and he is in his late 80s, had episodes of anxiety and a general feeling of not being mentally all he should be which haven’t completely gone. Good luck.

I think the mental health aspect is potentially less a direct effect of the virus itself and more s mental thing we experience if we've had no real brush with severe illness before

I had a bad back injury years ago which almost took me to the brink of suicide as the pain was all encompassing, I couldn't even sleep due to the pain. Luckily the dr's found the right medication to let me sleep and function enough to do rehab and I recovered in about 3 months after and came off all the medication too. If anything that experience has made me mentally stronger as anytime I'm injured or ill now I think 'well I've had fucking worse' and it helps me push through

This is why so many of us have been getting so angry over the last two years with the ones spouting the constant crap of "it's only the flu" and "never hurt anyone below the age of 60". It's a complex disease that can affect nearly any part of the body, can continue to cause harm for months if not years, can have permanent effects upon long term health, seriously degrade quality of life. And nobody has any clue about whether there might be extra problems caused over a timescale of ten, twenty, thirty years.

One thing that is absolutely certain is that whatever any supposed danger of side effects from vaccination, there is a hundred times worse danger of effects from the actual virus. Think it through - what is more likely to harm you, a very carefully measured micro dose of what is essentially a tiny section of the viral material, that is incapable of replicating, calculated to only give your body a warning "taste" of what the real virus is. Or an uncontrolled exposure to anything from a small through to mega dosage of the full virus, that is guaranteed to keep replicating within your body because it is something that your immune system has never seen anything like before, which will trash as many cells in your system as it can until your immune system can figure out from scratch how to combat it. Where it is a race between your immune system and the viral replication, that you have no guarantee of winning.

Anybody that has a "severe" reaction to the vaccine - say an aching arm, or feeling woozy for a few days, or even some tiny blood clots - would almost certainly have had a hundred times worse reaction to having the full virus replicating in their body and destroying their cells.

What is going to hurt you more - having a tiny sip of a well diluted poison? Or drinking a pint of the fully concentrated stuff?

Anyway OP, I hope that you do get better soon and that full operation is restored.

But to those that still don't believe in vaccination, masks, and generally trying to minimise the spread of this disease - take the OPs experience as a warning. Covid can do a lot more than just make you feel bad for a few days, it can fuck you up to the extent that you might not be doing any more fucking...
