Just had the 3 worst day's with long covid. Been smelling smoke for a few days and then my body and bones started to ache with a banging headache. Started Wednesday just starting to ease now

Taste comes and goes, smell can vary from smelling stale wood burning to chemical smells. Just weird to explain,and more often you can't taste the hotness in chilli

Got covid in January was ill for about 6-7 weeks. Never been the same way health wise after that. There are other things at play aswell the list is long things that I have never suffered from before

They certainly don't need people being dismissive of the suffering that the virus has caused them.

Bandwagon of fear, don't make me laugh, I pointed out that that there are thousands of medically diagnosed cases of long covid with those symptoms which is a fact and also why the NHS list them as the symptoms of long covid and that it has made my partners life absoloutly shit since she contracted covid and provided a link to the nhs site, it is cleary possible for trained and qualified medical professionals to say that these are symptoms of long covid. There is no desperation from me just a passing on of factual information that is readily available but seems to be overlooked or buried under the spread of misinformation by those that seem to think covid is nothing more than a bad cold or a government ploy to control people or some other crap.

Was just having a look at an articals on this as it wasn't a term I had heard used but yes it looks like they are saying long covid is infact a form of post viral syndrome it seems to be more common that people are suffering it after covid than had been seen with other viruses in the past although it has been known to persist previously in patients which then lead to a diagnosis of ME or CFS rather than post viral syndrome as it hadn't ended

And there wasn't a massive hoo-har about it.

Does Long Covid (PVS) exist? YES

Can those symptoms be for it? YES

Can anyone be certain that a particular symptom is in fact Long Covid (as opposed to simply catching anothe virus) without extensive further testing? NO

Its a lazy (simple) diagnosis amongst medical professionals who don't have time to piss about with minor ailments. It has always been thus.

I have had covid and suffer with aches and pains tiredness, but I am also suffering with blocked sinuses and now have to use a nasal decongestant spray. I have also recently see more TV adverts, advertising these products and I am now thinking is there a link with covid.

My deputy contracted covid Sept 3rd. He was not vaccinated. I was I got covid Sept 8th (attributed to deputy but not proven) I was back at work after 10 days after suffering what I can only describe as a very very very mild cold. My deputy is still off work. He can't walk more than 20metres without needing a sit down. He says he feels like he Been hit by a bus daily.. Our job is physicaly demanding and 12 hours days. I'm not saying he has long covid that will be upto the medical establishment to make that decision based on all the blood test. Xrays etc he has had to endure. All I do know is because our work involves an element of shift pay that doesn't have to be paid after 12 weeks long term sickness he now 400 pound a month worse off with no sight of a return to work anytime soon after 5months he will be in ssp and lose 1700a month of this happens.. Does long covid exist... He would say so. It also brings an enormous amount of mental stress which doesn't help anyone ls recovery

I'm coming up to 5 weeks post covid, been told I've got long covid (or post viral fatigue syndrome) I'm signed off work until the end of December. It is shit, proper shit. I am a completely different person- I work in a stressful job, usually run on 4-5hours sleep, physically active and am confident and bubbly. Now some days I physically cannot get out of bed, my memory is shot, I get confused easily, I sometimes sleep for 15hours a day, the littlest activity can mean I then need a 3 hour nap. Sending hugs to anyone out there who is suffering!

Yes post viral syndrome / fatigue has existed for many years and can be caused by any virus.

The problem is it was always a fairly rare complication of getting a virus but is a quite common post covid. Therefore for people who have had covid it has been classified as long covid.

I have seen and spoken to many patients who have this and are really struggling with the demands of day to day life.

The fact remains covid is not the simple cold that some people try to pass it of as and is leaving its mark on people that can in some cases be life changing.

What cold have you had that you can't taste a chilly and or feel nauseous out of the blue then smell smoke.

OP I know it only too well rest if you can and try and exercise when your feeling good. Try if you can to keep fit but we get it's hard.

Thank you for your comments especially the positive ones. I would not wish this on any one. I have worked since I was 12 not had a day off sick or serious illness thank god, a workaholic. I have always been active all my life, worked long hours and hard hours even as late in life as recently. Since covid I am not the same energetic keep going person. Most days I am fatigued I don't even want to leave my bed, never ever felt like this before.

I think everyone will have an opinion on this long covid but only those who are actually suffering from it will know the kind of life they will have to get used to.

And someone mentioned smelling smoke, I smell smoke, chemical nauseating smells and sometimes plastic burning. I have never in my life experienced that unless I was actually around a fire, bizarre is what it is.

We still have issues a year later...

Circulation problems, occasional pain when breathing, body aches, brain fog and partial sense of smell but keep smelling a really awful burnt smell/ wet dog/burnt biscuity smell...also still really fatigued easily.

This is me. I had covid 12 months ago and since i had my 2nd jab end of july if suffered with what i was told long covid. The fatigue is the killer for me ive always been a hard worker 12 hr days and never suffered like i have the last few months. I also have vertigo and this ive been told can also be teamed with long covid and trying to get to see an ENT doctor theres a waiting list of nearly a year. Im struggling to do 6 hrs of work a day and in bed by 8pm this just isnt me and im worn out with it all.
